David Silva leaves City after 10 years

It was quite fitting. He is very shy. Simply just wants to play football and go straight home to family and friends. The opposite of a media darling
That's the answer I expected, in some ways the perfect way for him to leave, little fuss and hysterics.

Surprised that there has not been any discussion of this article on the City Xtra web site which claims that Lazio have made Dave the offer of a three year contract worth €4M per season.

Not sure whether it would be a good move for him or not. I think he certainly has another season in him playing in a big European league but three might be a stretch.

If he does go at least Lazio play in a decent coloured shirt and it solves where to take the wife for our tenth anniversary!

My Favourite ever player i have seen at City, will be sorely missed.

How can you replace a player like him? If Foden turns out half as good i will be absolutely delighted.

What a player and what a great role model he is. Never kicked up a fuss once, got his head down and worked hard. He is a manager's dream.

I would love us to keep bringing in players like him at the club. Players that are as humble as Silva, players with the same mentality of just wanting to play football and not caring about being in the headlines or pictured with the latest Lamborghini or Maserati. He has never once cared about the materialistic things in life, it is all about what he has done on the pitch. A once in a generation player.

Build a statue for him, he deserves one.

David Silva’s father, Fernando Jiménez: "David had been telling me for years he wanted to play at #ManCity for 10 years and then end the cycle. I told him, 'if they offer you a one-year extension, why don't you take it?' and he told me 'well you take it then!'".

"One day he tells me one thing and the next another. I would like him to remain in Europe and until the window shuts, I can't rule out anything. I can confirm that he likes the Italian league and would really enjoy playing in Italy.

“He told me he could play there [Italy] until he's 40. I'd love it if he signed for Lazio. It'd be a huge opportunity. It's unlikely he'll come back to Spain, as he always rules out a return to Valencia." [

I can’t remember properly but not too long ago when he replied to one city fan’s tweet something like” No we don’t give up we are city “ . That was epic

I hope he's still got four left but it could be his last game for the club tonight.

I sincerely hope David doesn't sign for Lazio.
Their racist and fascist fanbase doesn't deserve him

Lazio's fan base has a bit of an unfair reputation.

They have a shitty, far right ultra group (that's been banned), but so do...pretty much all Serie A clubs. And Spain too - for some reason the far left Rayo Vallecano ultras get all the spotlight and not the very far right Real Madrid, Valencia, Espanyol, Celta Vigo, Atletico, Barcelona and Betis ultras.

Fascism and football ultras/hooligans go hand in hand, but Lazio bear the brunt of the reputation. It doesn't help that their Roman identity lends itself to Italian and Nazi imagery, but for the most part they are not much worse than any other Italian club. In fact one of the dumbest Lazio ultra things, of putting up stickers of Anne Frank in the Roma side of the stadio olimpico, is actually matched by Roma fans, who have painted murals in Rome saying "Anne Frank supported Lazio" - but only one made headline news in the mainstream media.

If you play in Italy, you're playing for a fanbase that's partly racist and fascist. It is what it is, unfortunately, although the wave of new American and Asian owners are trying to clean it up considerably.
