David Silva leaves City after 10 years

Ahhh man. What a legend, to have given us 10 years without any fuss and only displaying complete class - even in times of personal adversity defies any words.

This man will never, ever be forgotten. Even though he leaves these shores without any personal accolades, he strikes me as the sort who’s not arsed. His quotes show that he knows he has our complete and undivided love and respect.

The last game of the new season is at home that is going to be emotional when Merlin is walking around the pitch with his haul of trophies.

Continued success is all about replacing the departing stars. Ferguson, I must say, for all his unlikeability, had no compunction about going out and getting the best replacements (even if he had shipped some players out himself).
Who replaces Dave? Is Foden ready yet? Could Mahrez do a job?

Get the best, or a decline in standards will follow, as happened to us when Allison got rid of a fine late 70s team and replaced them with Bobby Shinton, Stuart Lee, Stepanovic, and the like. United have gone out and got some crap.

The question is - who can possibly replace Dave?

Do you really need to ask? Bernie is the heir to the crown.

True, in terms of quality, but if BS does Dave's job, we need someone to be a replacement for him, as their roles are not quite the same, and we'll still be a player short

No, his question makes sense. The short answer is: no one. Bernardo, good as he is, will be playing in the same position. But he won't be ‘replacing’ the best player to put on sky blue these last fifty years. Nobody could.

Very sad day that will be in my opinion city's greatest ever player, and yes I saw colin bell, we have truly been blessed over the last 10 years with magnificent players at our club.

Indeed,no recent legend list should be missing Dinho.

Somehow, with too many,he continues to bypass recognition when the lists are made.

I think he's 1 more successful season from eclipsing Yaya to me.

Yaya in truth had 4 great seasons for us, 2010-2014, everything after that was pretty nondescript. He obviously made such an impact at his best with huge goals that it's hard to compare, but Fernandinho has, 6 months after the 2014 world cup excluded, been world class for us and absolutely irreplaceable. You could even argue he facilitated Yaya's amazing 13/14.

He's not been a massive twat off the pitch or with his agent either.

No Yaya - can’t agree mate, not in footballing terms anywAy
One thing the others all have in common is that they’re professionals and seemingly developed a real love the club. Toure wasn’t professional on or off the field (at times) and never cared or developed any affection for the club, although he was a truly brilliant player on his good days which were pretty frequent in fairness.
