Gutted if true, but not too surprised. The loss to Spurs has cost us some fantastic players.

Any player that takes a one season view of things and won't join City because we are not in the CL next season is fantastically stupid. Let's sign players who are intelligent.

SPOT ON!

I dont know why we are fanny-ing around with valuations etc. I know we have our own valuations which are obviously less than Valencia's, but come on, they are after £30million, just give it to them! That's nothing, our opening offer for kaka was £100million and Kaka is only marginally better.

we offered £34mill about 2 and a half weeks ago phil.

So what appears to be the hold up? Is the player undecided?

David Silva is keen to put speculation regarding his future to one side while away on World Cup duty.

The Spain international has been the subject of mounting transfer talk of late, with his domestic employers, Valencia, known to be struggling financially.

Los Che have already been forced to reluctantly offload star striker David Villa to Barcelona, and further departures are expected.

Silva is among their most saleable assets, with the tricky winger highly regarded throughout world football.

The likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and Inter Milan are all reported to have expressed an interest in his services, and are willing to spend big in an effort to land his signature.

A price tag reported to be in the region of €40million is unlikely to put off the European heavyweights, meaning the rumours look set to rumble on.

Silva, though, is keen to lay the issue to rest until his exploits in South Africa are done and dusted.

Calm

He said: "Right now I'm very calm. The only thing in my head is the national team and to have a good World Cup with the team.

"I'm not thinking about the club or possible exits. The calm that there is here (in the Spain camp) helps a lot for not thinking about anything else."

Silva is keen to avoid any distractions as Spain have enough to contend with at present.

As reigning European champions, and able to boast a squad brimming with world class talent, they are strong favourites to taste global glory this summer.

This is not the first time, though, that Spain have had to contend with the weight of expectation and such pressure has often taken its toll in the past.

"It depends how you look at it," said Silva.

"If there is a lot of euphoria it could be detrimental, but we know what we have to do and if we are focused on ourselves, everything will go fine."

Tell me where he mentions champions league and city?

-- Sat Jun 12, 2010 4:29 pm --

Anyone who posts a Goal.com link believing its gospel should be banned from the board.

More than anything he must want to stay in spain because that is the way they are at the end of the day and when you have real madrid after you then you can understand his point of view.

Also the premier league is a very physical league and i am sure that players like torres and fabregas must have told him about the tackles and the way of playing here and i am not sure he would be looking to play against the likes of stoke, bolton, sunderland and blackburn.

Spanish players are not the most courageous for me and if they can go to a league less physical then they are always bound to there.

I can see him joining rafa in milan because at least he would have a manager who will trust him a lot more and give more of a chance to succeed as he is spanish like him.

at the end of the day let the fucking prick stay in spain,or play for another club - we will get there with or without him. With players that want to play for CITY, don't forget we finished 5th with the squad we had last year........
