Saw enough today to state that Milner will be a better option than Silva.

Silva is a lightweight version of Robbie, with about a quarter of the skill.

He would prove a major flop in this league.

I`d say it was more a collective thing than an individual thing mate, the whole Spanish side was poor today. But you are right i think he is a little lightweight for the EPL,but i don`t want Milner either.I think he`s overrated and goes missing when he steps upto international level, and i believe if you can`t cut it at the top internationally you shouldn`t be coming to clubs that want to be at the very top.

It's probably better he doesn't have an amazing world cup. If he did his price could go from £30m to about £50m.

his performance today was nothing special.

wasn't in the game enough, you could of said the same for iniesta and villa to.

Milner is proven at Premier League level, and that's what counts.

You could possibly argue that the likes of Lampard, certainly John Barnes, were never potent at international level.

Milner gives us a variety of options, has good experience for someone of his age, and more importantly, like Adam Johnson, appears to have the right mentality to improve.

I see Milner evolving very quickly over next couple years, possibly as a Lampard level.

Baconface is usually a good barometer on certain players. If he's willing to part with sizeable monies for him, when those scumbags currently don't have a pot to piss in, it tells me one thing, buy him, now!

I think we will see Milner interchanging with Barry on the left of midfield for certain games.

Equally as effective on the right.

Re: please, please sign david silva

He was no worse than Villa, Torres, Iniesta, and other footballing poster boys today. Bad way to judge him, was just a very off-key performance by the Spanish even though they did dominate.

Re: please, please sign david silva

I agree with Tolmie here, and I do not base my opinion on today's game. But it was very telling wouldn't you say, how those extremely neat and fancy Spaniards couldn't break down a northern European type defence?
I love watching Barcelona as I think they play the most beautiful football there is, but it is so very different from the PL. Smallish, quick players such as the likes of Villa, Silva, Aguero, Bojan, Pedro etc etc would have a very difficult time adapting to our type of game and they all know this.

So, even though I fiind the mentioned figures for Millner absurd, I'd rather have him than Silva. Had I been Barca/Real Madrid fan I would have preferred Silva to Milner.

Re: please, please sign david silva

There is another thread extolling or decrying the virtues of one Stephen Ireland. My reason for mentioning it is if a Barca fan tuned in and saw one of his performances last year they would say this guy is absolute rubbish.

You cannot judge a world class player like Silva on one game. Nor Ireland nor anyone else for that matter.

I take it from Tolmie not being too disheartened that Silva is not one of the players we will be signing.

Re: please, please sign david silva

I forgot to mention, even more than Millner I would welcome the signing Ozil. What a class player!

how can you say all that about the other players and then suggest ozil..

the guy looks a quality player but hes no less lightweight than silva and aguero etc.
