Right now, at the radio are telling that last week Manuel Llorente (our president), a lawyer, and Cook meet at a restaurant near Valencia. That the deal might be closed, but maybe they are waiting next friday (so National Team cant be distract from the crucial match against Chile) to announce the deal.
Anyway, none of these parts admited this.

Fingers crossed.

We should not spend big monies on players unless its odds-on they will produce

pay over the odds for Premiership experience and players like Yaya Toure. Silva might easily flop
Santa Cruz has Premier League experience, and we paid over the odds for him. That transfer turned out to be a good one. We cannot turn down the chance to sign players of David Silva's class when they become available. Not quite sure who you think we are!

Also, the beauty of signing David Silva is that although he's already a big name in world football, he's gained this reputation despite only being 24 years of age! He's still a long way off his peak, and he could potentially have those peak years at Manchester City. I'm sorry mate, but you break the bank for that. He's the best of both worlds... people often talk about the trade off between buying young players and buying ready-made world superstars. Well David Silva is BOTH! You don't pass when an opportunity like this comes along.

he'll reject us and either stay at valencia or go to someone with chump football

Thats always the worry when we go in pursuit of very good players, however surely city have gauged with his agent how open he is to coming??

I hope we sell him the vision, look at the players we have already etc, just hope he isn't too short sighted and see's next season CL football will be at city.

I think he'll buy into the vision of how thing are gunna be rather than how they are. When asked in an interview last year ' do you think not having champions league football will make it harder for you to attract top players' mancini basically replyed ' yes we may find it abit harder but it's ok getting a team in the champions league but then what happens if you go out in the first round ? Your back to square one, that's why we are aiming to put a team together not just to get into the champions league but to challenge for the Champions league' I think the nail was hit firmly on the head there !

spot on - he would be our first overseas mega signing - Tev wanted to stay in the area, Ade had nowhere else to go seemingly, this one would really make people sit up and take notice

Silva is licensed by the VCF to negotiate
Javier Gomez acknowledges that the player has the club's OK to talk to the City, but denies the agreement between the clubs.

SUPERDEPORTE.ES "Indeed, the player can negotiate their future, but Valencia has not negotiated with any club." Javier Gomez has responded well, vice president of Valencia CF after being asked about whether the club has given permission for David Silva to negotiate with Manchester City. The newspaper 'The Daily Mail claimed today that both clubs have reached an agreement to transfer 34 million euros, and the truth is that the VCF denies although it recognizes that would have given free rein to Silva to negotiate their future after speak of "approximate figures" with the City,

David Silva already has permission to negotiate their future, and it seems to pass by Manchester City. The club did not confirm the reports of the 'Daily Mail', but the truth is that this new step in the Mestalla club's attitude suggests that if no agreement, there is such evidence that the English side would the figure you want to convey to the VCF Silva, and it would always be above 30 million euros as Manuel Llorente has made it clear on more than one occasion.

The station 'Radio Nou' has pointed out this afternoon that the player is up to date with their representatives maintain contacts with Manchester City, so that the handover of David Silva is running.

Unai Emery, open arrivals
The Valencia coach Unai Emery, who has visited the Valencia Street Circuit in the company of club officials, has left open the possibility of new arrivals in the event of closing the sale of Silva. "Those are the most important and will help those who compete at high level. If there is a significant departure could have some input, and we are awaiting the possible arrival of another striker."
