That is possible (though it's interesting how everyone assumes that because Rafa plays one formation at Liverpool he will play the same one at Inter) but would involve serious expenditure:

Silva 30-35m
Masch 22-26m
Kolarov 22-25m

+ hefty wages, with no outgoings to compensate.

Also does this make best use of Pandev, Balotelli and Eto'o? Debateable, I'd say.

Balotelli got very little game time under Mourinho anyway. Panedev was signed on a free transfer so no loss if he does not play and there would be no different in Eto'o playing in that position because he did so under Mourinho.

I was just speculating that was all. I never said they would sign all three of those players. I did say that Benitez would be allowed to bring one player to Inter and that could well be Kolorov,Silva or Mascherano.

You're clearly a knowledgeable chap, but I find some of this logic puzzling.

Pandev was free, yes, but his wages aren't free are they? In any case the fact that he did or didn't cost money to buy isn't really the point IMO and the same applies to Balotelli's lack of match time under Mou - the question is, do the proposed transfers and setup of the side make best use of the squad's resources? If not, then there is a 'loss'.

I guess the argument for buying Masch is that we lack a reliable midfield enforcer other than the magnificent Cambiasso - though obviously Zanetti, Motta and Stankovic can play that role to greater or lesser degrees.

I would be very, very surprised if Lotito let Kolarov go for less than 20m, especially given the Pandev affair. Lotito in fact seems to have made it his mission this summer to extract as much cash as possible for Kolarov.

Bottom line - I can certainly see Rafa going for Silva but, as I said, that will entail doing without in other areas.

Inter will be in 3 big competitions next season, signing Silva would just add depth to the forward line. There would be no guarentee Silva would stay fit all season so Pandev could be a worthy substitute.

In Italy alot of deals work with Co-Ownerships of players, Inter could propse to Lazio 15 million cash upfront along with some talented youngsters from their youth system.

I think, in fact, that we are in agreement.

Silva is a possibility for Inter but, if he comes, it will be at the expense of other targets.

Very much doubt there will be a co-ownership deal on Kolarov.
