It puzzles me why he has no problem scoring for Spain but he does for us.
He doesn't, though. Three seasons back, when Chelsea won it in the end and we were second, we had every single attacking player out injured for a three-week spell or so round about the Christmas/New Year period, and he just had to step up. He did, and scored goals for fun. Simply, he always, always, looks for the other player, even when he himself is in a scoring position.
Anyway, this is even less of a brainer than giving Yaya an extension. The man's intelligence in the use of the resources he has (and he's never had a turn of speed) is second to no-one in the league (I still think it's outrageous that he didn't get POTY in either of our title winning seasons, especially 2011-12 when, for at least two-thirds of the season, he was
utterly sublime). With the younger players around him, he can go on and on. The ankle seems to be less fragile than it used to be, too, despite being hacked regularly by navvies who can't get near the ball.
