David Silva

He was fantastic today. He lost the ball easily one time I remember and he over hit one of his corners. Besides those 2 moments he really good, 2nd only to Iniesta.

Was amazing today no two ways about it. 95% of Spains attacks went through him. It seems slowly he has become their most important player alongside Iniesta.

Was terrific today, some of his through balls in the second half were sensational.

If you watched the Spain and the Belgium game, you'd need you head checking if you thought Silva shouldn't be getting in our team.

Back to his best. Some were suggesting he was going downhill.

I noticed when he came back on the pitch he had a protective bandage on his left ankle, but it doesn't seem to be affecting his game.

He was rather good, wasn't he?
Question, though: why doesn't he get his ankle whacked over and over again in international games, as he does in most PL games? It's good, but odd that there should be that difference. He really does take a caning in our games.

The rest of the prem know thats the way to stop him and in turn stops the rest of the team,i think kev will get the same treatment next season as well,it was great to see dave playing like his old self again

Watching him last night it's laughable that a few posters on here have been suggesting that he's not worth a starting place under Pep. He's still one of the best creative midfielders in Europe.

He does, he took two big hits on the ankle in successive qualifiers last year.

I'm aware of that but in the PL it's every single game. The only conclusions I can draw are that a) Iniesta takes some of the heat off him by virtue of being the senior playmaker b) he gets more protection from refs in international matches. Players must know they're going to be carded pretty much straight away for tackles that go unpunished on David in the PL.

Wasn't this season's ankle knock caused against one of the more ridiculous nations in qualifying?

You're right though, the players he plays with make it near impossible to single one man to target.
Despite what the studio experts tell us, international football is a joke.

Spain are walking through games, as most countries are made up of Championship level players.

Look what's on now, look what's on later. Look at Eire. These players can't get near the likes of Spain, kicking them would be too obvious.

The Prem is high tempo, we've seen how we get ref'd in Europe. If you so much as touch Barcelona, Juve, Bayern et al, it's a foul.

The Prem is much harder in every way.

Silva, is class. He'll fit Guardiola to a tee.

He's going to tear up this league next season under Pep! Besides being such a superb player what a role model to our younger players!

Just been to Ragcafe forum. Saw David Silva being mentioned in the "Most Overrated Players and Managers" thread.

I wept.
