im really not convinced that villa would be a success in the premiership at all.....people compare him to torress but he is not as quick or as strong and i think he will be another bianchi....just wont be able to handle the physicality of the premiership

I see where youre coming from, but comparing him to Bianchi is a bit harsh. How many times has Bianchi played for Italy? Villa is a key part of arguably the best international team in the world at the moment, you cant get much more of a pedigree than that.

Personaly i've watched both Torres (when he was with atletico madrid) and Villa right now. Even though Villa is bit older than Torres but its clear that Villa has more skills + talent than Torres. Torres is stronger but he's scoring record in the spanish la liga "WAS not impressive" with atletico. Villa just scores from the slightest chances. Personaly i rate Villa higher than Torres......

From the little I've seen of him I would agree interisti, he seems to be an out and out predator. Do you think he would be open to a move to England? That seems to be the big stumbling block...

I would say its a 50-50 chance. He wants to stay in spain but there are just two clubs that can sign him there (Real and barca), Real allready have lots of strikers in their team so i doubt they want him. Barca have henry, Etoo and Messi upfront. Messi is Untouchable and i believe that Etoo will stay with barca (he allready stated that many times in the last few weeks).

So only Henry is left and he didn't impress much with Barca (he's doing better lately but still nothing special) so there is a possibility that they'll sell Henry and buy Villa (and some say maybe Ribery would be that guy to replace henry).

IMO if valencia couldn't qualify to the champions league next season and barca didn't show interest in him then there is a big possibility that he'll move to england (and right now very few clubs can afford him and i think that city's chances are pretty big to get him).....

It's gonna be a long summer.

it will seem long but due to world cup the summer after it will actually be a shorter summer which will suit us city fans to the ground!

Fucks sake, let this end one way or the other.

End? It's only just beggining.

I doubt they went to the trouble of having a meeting and didn't discuss potential transfer targets, there are only a few players globally that each team would be interested in (especially Barca).

My guesses are they discussed:

1. Allowing Barca a free run at Villa provided we get a shot at Eto'o
2. Allowing City a free run at Villa because they are keeping Eto'o
3. Discussing Henry's availability because Barca are going for Villa

I doubt Barca would go for Villa unless they got rid of either Messi or Eto'o, none of those 3 are going to happily sit on a subs bench and having Henry as a backup is about as good as it gets. Something has to give, whether it is Eto'o or Villa (maybe Henry), doubt it will be Messi.

Getting links into top teams is great, no team is going to want to get into a bidding war with City now. Smoothing this sort of stuff out up front is good business for everyone concerned, even City, because we still don't want to pay way over the odds if we don't have to.

Some excellent points mate. I think the whole meeting in general is encouraging. Dare I say it shows Cook has learned from the January failure and is trying a different approach to the transfer market. Instead of pissing off Europe's elite with great shows of wealth this 'relationship building' is surely a much more pragmatic approach and will ultimatly lead to more successful transfer dealings. Only time will tell but I'm pretty sure we will see one of your 3 points above taking place over the summer window...

Only 31 days and counting until this board becomes our lives and we live and breathe the Tranfer Forum on Bluemoon!!!
I'm getting excited.

Hold your horses the transfer window doesn't open until July 1st... we may get speculation in June but no signings.

we can sign players on the contacts in June but the player registration to a new club can be only completed in the transfer windows

Diarra to Madrid, Huntelar to Madrid and Modric to Spurs are all examples of this
