David White bar

Hugely underrated player, Whitey, especially by our own supporters. Erratic (show me a winger who isn't) but on his day devastatingly effective, a bit like Valencia for the rags today.
I don't think they bothered collecting 'assist' stats in Whitey's day but I'd wager that the two or three seasons at his peak with us, when his partnership with Quinny was almost telepathic, they would have been be up there with anyone around today.

On a more positive note, I read the other day that he has got his job back playing Terry Duckworth on Coronation St and is making a return soon.

I always remember a friend of mine back in the early 90s, who was a big Aston Villa fan, laughing at David White and saying he was completely over-rated - "quite fast but with zero skill" - and any decent defence would be able to handle him easily.

As coincidence would have it, the following week, he was stood on the Holte End to watch White score 4 goals for City against his beloved Villa ... we met-up a few days later and he really didn't want to talk about it at all. Obviously I reminded him about this for years to come.

Still brings a smile to my face after all these years.

He ate all the pies...

Did anyone have one of the posh pies from pie factory, or a dog from Franks Original?

Must admit I fancied one of the hot dogs but had no cash on me only cards. Will these be there for the United game?

Yes, and I was there, too. That was Whitey at his very best. Unplayable!

He had a lot more to his game than pace; his crossing and shooting were superb.

Happy days.
