De Bruyne injury - Back in Training (p89)

Whilst he’s arguably our best player, it may represent an excellent chance for the likes of Bernardo and Foden to flourish in creative midfield positions.

Hopefully 3 months reported by the club is the very worst case scenario... as that is a bloody big chunk of the season and would be a huge blow

While it is a big blow and we'll miss him, rather now than the end of November. We'd really suffer then.

As it is, you can factor in about 4 midweeks where we'll have no games due to 2/3 international breaks, so in reality he'll likely miss 8 or so league games plus 3 Champions League ties. With David Silva retiring from International duty, he'll be fresh and should be able to play every game during this time as long as he stays fit.

I wouldn't want to be one of the teams facing us in the next couple of months as we have so many different ways to set up that you've got to think of multiple plans to counter it.

At face value it's a massive blow as he's the best in the world at what he does, but if the support cast can step up and seize the opportunity then we should cope.

Much as it's bad news that he's injured, I can't help but giggle slightly at the position City are now in whereby they are reduced to relying on players as hopeless as David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Gundogan, Foden, Mahrez, Delph and Sterling to cover for him.

Fuck me, logged in a half hour ago and was digesting the "good" news it was only two months and passing it on. Come back on and its gone to three months.

Why change the thread title to two months if it wasn't official?

We hardly ever seem to be without a top player for some reason and just have to cope. Kev is probably one of the top three players you would not want out but hopefully this one injury won't derail our season. It does go to show though why it is so hard to win multiple trophies in a season or back to back titles: our massive success last season owed something to having Kev available most of the time and playing so well; he did show some signs of overwork so this rest may allow him to fully recharge.

Even last season we had long term injuries to key players. Mendy, Stones, Kun all seemed to miss large parts and add to that Silva missed a lot due to his family. We coped well last season so hopefully we will do so the same. Players like Kev really stepped up last season, including the likes of Delph, so now time for Bernardo / Foden to do the same.

Forgot to say,

the moment I was reading 'no surgery' today made me even happier than the final whistle last Sunday.

Is that allowed?

As good as some players are that's what makes a champion team , someone else step ups and the machine grinds on as if nothing has changed.

I wonder if the medical team will consider stem cell/prp treatment to help make the ligament stronger. Regenerative Medicine is the future.
