De Bruyne injury - Back in Training (p89)

We hardly ever seem to be without a top player for some reason and just have to cope. Kev is probably one of the top three players you would not want out but hopefully this one injury won't derail our season. It does go to show though why it is so hard to win multiple trophies in a season or back to back titles: our massive success last season owed something to having Kev available most of the time and playing so well; he did show some signs of overwork so this rest may allow him to fully recharge.
Watching the All or nothing doc it struck me how involved Kev was in nearly all our key moments. I still think we will do well this season, also it is better to happen for the first 3 months and not the last 3 months.

I dont know anything about cruciate ligaments. I'm just wondering if the fact that KDB has suffered the same injury twice in a couple of years is indicative of a problem or weakness and if this is likely to happen again.

We will miss him without doubt but fortunately we have a deep squad and I have no doubt Pep will re-jig the formation to compensate for his absence. We looked pretty good against Chelsea and Arsenal without him so I don't think there is any reason to be overly concerned.

That is also my concern, particularly given that he wasn’t involved in any kind of challenge or even overly onerous sprinting or turning

Even last season we had long term injuries to key players. Mendy, Stones, Kun all seemed to miss large parts and add to that Silva missed a lot due to his family. We coped well last season so hopefully we will do so the same. Players like Kev really stepped up last season, including the likes of Delph, so now time for Bernardo / Foden to do the same.
Probably the understatement of the year!!

I'll start this off by saying I know nothing about knee injuries but will he get it operated on next summer to stop any reaccurence of the injury?

I don't think there is anything to operate on,i suspect it will be a tailored approach to strengthening the area and continued focus on such.
