De Bruyne?

sky sports just said we've made a 54.4mil offer, with add-ons...making it close to £58mil??..anyone confirm?
I don't think they specified us but they did say Allofs admitted they are considering a bid of that magnitude for the player.

I'm now beggining to doubt the wisdom of this signing and where he will fit into the side under the current set up.

I think the long term plan will be for him to replace Silva's spot in the team, lets face it that wont be for another three years at least as Silva is untouchable in my eyes. The problem then is that he will have to play as we are spending £50m + to land him , he wont be sat on the bench in any of the big games. The only spot that is open is to replace Navas on the right.

There are a couple of issues with this

1. He doesn't work as hard as Navas , he will show a similar amount of tracking back that Silva and Nasri display, which is basically a token effort in most cases.
2. He is not a right winger so will have a tendency to cut inside into the space that Silva is operating in, simlar to how Silva and Nasri interact when they are both on the pitch.

The current set up is so balanced , we are just a bit hamstrung with the fact that Navas doesn't really offer a goal threat and couldn't finish his dinner.

I would prefer us to go out and get the best orthadox right winger we can , which could be the reason we were looking at Pedro.

Mate, come on....

It's nice that Navas works hard but if we want to win the CL he's no where near good enough to start. He hasn't scored in the league for over 20 months, which is absolutely shocking considering the position he plays and the quality around him.

De Bruyne is absolutely miles better. He's the German league player of the year for goodness sake. It's like saying you'd rather have Nani than Ronaldo.

You're just a bit overexcited about balance and because we're in good form. If we want to get better than it's Navas' position which is most under threat. I like him too, he's a good guy, never complains and always puts in a shift, but he lacks true high level quality.

In any event, all it takes is an injury to Sterling and we've got the same problems as last year, which is why this signing would be huge for us.

Confused are Bayern interested or not?

I guess it's perfectly plausible that they aren't being totally honest
I think the situation is that Bayern is not interested this summer, but they definitely are in 12 months. They will need a replacement for Robben, and KDB would be an ideal candidate for that. So what Bayern would like is that KDB stays where is he until they are ready to get him.

Take your points, and agree with your overall point. However I think the point I agree with das on, is that Navas brings pace and defensive awareness - him and Sterling are central to our balance currently and it's due to their ability to assist their fullback and then break at speed.

I hope KDB is more akin to Navas than Nasri with those qualities, otherwise he'll struggle to hold down a place this season.

Which part of "We will definitely not be active there. The chairman decided that long ago" are you getting that from, exactly?
