I think Essien is the most complete midfielder in world football so for 'our Nige' to make him anonymous is just brilliant.

Just immense, quickly turning into an absolute rock, was a bit iffy even if i did know he was quality when he first signed, just a settling in period i suppose.

He was the same then as he is now just people picked up on his passing backwards / sideways. Said this from the moment we signed him his role is so simple break up opposition play win the ball back play it simple...He is excellent at it as good a buy as Shay and the best part is he is only 25.

I quite agree.

Lostock Blue and I watched the match in the George and Dragon in Orlando, FL with a few moaning Chelsea fans.

Nigel was outstanding and special mention should also go to Lescott, Richards and Tevez.

But credit to the whole team; none of them had a bad game.
