De Jong was unsung today... hand this man a contract

Would love a de rossi type player to go alongside De Jong and push yaya further up the pitch.
Was impressive today at times. Hope he stays. Only thing about Nige for me is that I can't get the thought out of my head that against Utd in the cup last season he couldn't be bothered running for the ball after Pantilemon saved initially before they scored. Rooney had the desire and Nigel didn't. In my mind he lost us that game. I hold grudges unfortunately. Deep breath.
I love him still though. He was immense last season at times. There is more to his game than just being a destroyer. He can link the team very well and without him I'm afraid Yaya is not fully utilized.
Hopefully he'll sign a renewal. I can't imagine City are offering too bad a deal. Maybe not as much as hed like but jeez what about the history.

Amongst our best today, he is clearly one of the best CM's in the world, don't care what anyone says. I think he is better than Barry personally, but thats just me.

Mancini doesn't think so !
And thats why NDJ spent most of last season on the bench.
When Silva become fit again, Mancini will go back to his last season formation with a midfield of ( Nasri, Barry, Yaya & Silva )
The guy will spend this season AGAIN on the bench
He will not renew his contract ( According to the press so far )
Has 1 year left on his contract
So why not cash him now ?

Actually he still made 29 appearances last year and 10 in Europe. The previous to seasons he made 41 and 42 appearances respectively. The reason he was not a more regulat addition last year, was firstly because he missed much of the pre-season through an ankle injury, which put him behind. Barry was then playing well, so you cannot expect De Jong to just come in and replace someone who has been performing.
There is no way you can know what this season will be like and who will be injured, for example De Jong will be starting basically every game for the first month - as Barry is way behind the rest of the squad in terms of fitness, due to injury. "Why not cash in on him now?", because we don't need the money and will not get an amount equal to his true worth. If we sell him to say Bayern, he goes on to make 40+ appearances and starts for them regularly, people like yourself will be the first to question it.

But if you look at Vincent Kompany previous 3 seasons before joining us :
2005–06 12
2006–07 6
2007–08 23
He hardly played due to injury so lets hope we can get the same turnaround in fortune with this signing.
