de jong

The guy is coming back from injury, the only competitive football he's played for 4 months is for us. When Dunne comes back into the side after the next game, Kompany will replace him in midfield, so he can then be introduced more slowly and gain his fitness slowly.

I can't see a real weak spot in our team atm, keep it the same until we need to change.

Not a chance! If Dunne is brought straight back into the back four (which he will!), Kompany will sit in front with De Jong with 3-1 in front of them. Not sure what he is going to do about the Micah/Zab issue at RB over the long term, but I would imagine there will be more than a few suspensions as the season grinds on. Clearly though, on current form it would be impossible to drop Zabaletta in favor of Richards.

My money's on Zab moving across to RM in place of the suspended SWP for 3 games, so I guess it delays any need to make the decision.

IMHO

................................GIVEN

.....Richards/Zab.......Dunne.........Onuoha............Bridge

........................De Jong.....................Kompany

...SWP/Zab................Ireland.....................Robinho

............................Bellamy

i watched the game and the reason some players go un noticed is because they do nothing wrong!!!

He was good, like a pitbull on the heals and hurrying players into mistakes and calmly going about his business. Great signing, just what we need.

Exactly. When a player like De Jong stands out it'll be because we're under pressure and we need someone winning those 50-50 balls to keep us in a game. He's not the kind of player that creates goals and changes the game offensively.

Only 75% fit but had a solid game today and an assist, what more do you want from a defensive midfielder!

I dont doubt his ability and has shown flashes of skill vision and his warrior style,, but only flashes.. He backed out of a 50/50 in the middle yesterday and given had to produce a good save from. Reading his interview about being an animal i didnt expect him to shirk,, sluggish looking too. But hopefully after 5-6 games hell be up to speed,, if not? 17.5 mill flop,, could have been a 1.7 mill bargain!!
