Face facts, in Vinnie we've got a class act, de jong clearly not too greats.

Ps. Those 2 you named imho play in a more challenging role harder to adapt to.

Defensive midfielders shouldn't find it too difficult to mop up in any league they play in hth.

hughes just seems to like signing these hard working defensive players and now he is overrun with them zabaleta, de jong, kompany, bridge, the two attacking players robbie and swp he idont believe he had any say in signing dont forget this is a guy who built a team round robbie savage, now he is trying to shoe horn them into the same team leaving attacking player like elano on the bench and playing just one striker up front in home games

De Jong is a bloody good player, we haven't seen the best of him yet.
I know he cost a fair bit ( not his fault) but he's a good addition to our squad & i'm glad we got him.

He was awful today, and I want to know if other blues are convinced he's the right man for us.

Yes I was, and I was at Stoke where I thought he was pretty poor...

again mate, just off the top of my head:

Mascherano was crap for WHU the 1st season
Hamann wasnt too good for Newcastle (or us) in his first season
Lucas at liverpool came with great promise, and is only now challanging for a place in their squad

I don't remember about Henry, but Drogba having a poor first season is a total myth. It's just that he didn't really start to score alot of goals until the season Mourinho started playing 442. Since that season (2006/7) Chelsea have reverted back to playing with one striker and Drogba has reverted back to scoring less goals. In his first season he made more assists than any other player in the Prem and his work rate was tremendous, but the media were desperate to label him a flop becasue of his big price tage and judged him purely on goals scored. Though i suspect if they bothered to look at the stats he was probably the leading goal scorer amongst strikers who play up front on their own.
