I love De Jong, we looked so much better at the back today with him just in front, his attitude is superb and his tackles are awesome.

So glad people are finally waking up to realise just what a special player he is and what a vital job he does for the team said this many times break up the opposition play and give it simple to a more creative team mate is his role and he does it so well.

My only concern is whether we are too defensive playing barry as well. Seemed to work today when barry went off.

this is exactly why everything points to playing 4-3-3 (4-1-2-3 if you want to be technical) imo, having barry and ireland playing ahead of de jong, giving both of them freedom to push on, barry a little less so he can cover for stevie after a long run or pick up a rebound.
De jongs covering when the defenders go up is great always slots in where he is needed his reading of the game is top notch ,just hope we stick with the formation we played today , sunderland winning come on.................................................................

Been saying this for ages!
de Jong allows Ireland that freedom to venture forward, shackles off, whereas Barry goes forward, Ireland has to limit his impact because of more responsibility in the mid.
Loads of Clowns of here think that it's de Jong that should make way!!
