Oh dear this is big time tin hat stuff but has to be said........

We are a better team when NDJ doesnt play

Last 2 games have shown that for me, i have thought it for a while and in certain games he will be effective when we have midfield tussles but most of the time he stops us going forward and slows the game down, which doe snot suit are play

The last 2 games were against Wigan and Burnley though. I think he'll be back, full rested and ready to go for the 4 huge matches after Birmingham.

it's been said alot, in games where he isn't needed like burnley and wigan we will play better without him, he isn't needed.

he needs to be played in the games against the likes of chelsea, the scum, dippers, arsenal.

in all the big games he never fails to deliver, he had chelsea's midfield in his back pocket when we beat them 2-1at CoMS.

still a truely class player and does his job so well, i think he get's alot of unfair stick, it's not his fault the manager picks him when we play an average side at home.

^^^^^This^^^^^ We need him for the bigger games to break up the play and his all round superhero play.

De Jong played against Chelsea and had an important part in both games against them, which we won. De Jong suits certain situations when we badly need midfield grit, maybe against teams with stronger cohesiveness than us (the top three).

He's a world class classic DM, but in my opinion you can't afford a sole DM in 4-4-2. But maybe, just maybe, he'll one day put more effort in becoming better offensively, and then we'll have a true gem in our hands.

He fits ok in 4-2-3-1 but unfortunately we lack a great attacking CM for that to work, so instead we only rely on our wingers with that formation.

I can't believe he used to be a winger in Ajax, guess it's the reason he was sold so cheap to Hamburg... check out Youtube for some stepovers.

Ypu're point is a vaid one, NDJ is only capable of a performance in a midfeld three in an anchor role. Even then, he mis-times tackles far too often and offers next to nohing going forward. People rate him because they think he's Makelele, they think we need a one diminsional holding midfielder, it's laughable.
Paddy and Barry all day please, miles head of the Dutch lad.

He certainly is a great player. Some fans sit behind me and slate him all match even when he is playing good, gets annoying at times!

I agree with all of this apart from the last bit - people tend to go overboard about De Jong and his style of play.
