De Rossi (continued)

"De Rossi is difficult because he is a Roma" = "Yes, we are signing him this week"

I'm getting "Capitan Futuro" on my shirt on Monday. Convinced he's in the bag.

Mancini to give up on transfer trio

Roberto Mancini is ready to admit defeat in his attempts to take Javi Martinez, Daniele De Rossi and Daniel Agger to Manchester City.

The Italian has already missed out on two other major summer transfer targets - Eden Hazard, who joined Chelsea, and Robin van Persie, who left Arsenal for Manchester United.

Now Athletic Bilbao's Spain international Martinez is on the brink of moving to Bayern Munich, and De Rossi and Agger, who appear likely to remain at Roma and Liverpool respectively.

"We talked about Martinez," Mancini said. "But it is a situation that is not easy because there are top clubs who want Martinez. De Rossi is difficult because he is a Roma. Agger? I don't think so."

Mancini has only brought in one player - Everton's Jack Rodwell - but Martinez and De Rossi, who are also both capable of playing in the centre of midfield or defence, were his preferred options for that role.

And while the Italian insisted his relationship with City's football administrator Brian Marwood is fine, he reiterated his stance that the club should have acted earlier in the transfer window.

He added: "Sometimes it is not enough maybe to have money to spend. Sometimes you should move very quickly because when there are three or four top teams involved it is difficult."

That article is just in reference to the 2nd part of yesterday's press conference!

My prediction is a typical Mancini bluff!

I have never seen Mancini bluff about transfers. If i remember correctly there has never been an instance where he said a player was coming/not coming and the opposite happened

All he has said it that De Rossi would be 'difficult', that doesn't rule us out at all.

Do you really think Mancini will admit to being close to De Rossi??

Players of this magnitude will be kept quiet until the fee accepted ssn headline appears!!

Well, if i remember correctly, on all our major transfers like Silva, Aguero etc, Mancini has said it would be difficult BUT always added that he hoped it can be done. No such hopes in this case.

To be fair, Mancini gets asked about transfers alot more than he used too!
Our stock has risen, and therefore, we are alot more newsworthy! He has to field more questions now than he has previously.
Also I seem to remember, Mancini claimed Nasri, and Balotelli, would both be difficult. Pretty similar to what he is saying about DDR and Agger.

I hope we get this fella, and then add sinclair and I would be happy with that.

3 very good additions and one proven established player.

Come on Sunday and here is to another great season with our fantastic club and second to none supporters

: )

Yes thats true, but as i remember it, in these cases, he always expressed 'hope' it can be done. I didnt see any such expression of hope in case of DDR

Still need a CB, and I dont mean cover like DDR or Rodwell can provide, I mean a proper CB!
I still think we'll get Agger, but I think it'll be last day of the window.
Anyway back to DDR.

The guy on Mcfcforum.Com. Boooooooo ;)

Has said this .
Just got word that it is an all but done deal, and a chat with Mancini is all that is needed to seal it.

If I remember rightly he said the same about Nasri last year?

Hope he know's his stuff

Well we have several first time ITKers telling us this is going to happen and all of them sound quite convincing but I won't be booking my controversial fascist arm tattoo until I see him holding up his shirt.

Be good if it's true

If a fee has been agreed, and apparent ITKs have gotten whiff of it, why hasn't any reputable news outlet?
