Did we or did we not give them an offer earlier in the window? I remember something being reported in Swedish media from... well about two weeks ago I'd say, somewhere around the £20mil region and we would almost treble his wages.
But that could have been pure fabrication as far as i know and I didn't pay too much attention to it as it was De Rossi it was about, Mr Roma.

Rather than bid now we may as well wait and sign pre contract for next summer.
Keep Barry in there for now as his experience and play could help this year. Sell him next year and bring De Rossi in on a free. Jobs a good un.

Roberto Mancini has declared that midfielder Daniele De Rossi would be 'absolutely perfect' for Manchester City.

De Rossi is under contract with Roma for one more year but the Italian club announced earlier this week they were hopeful of agreeing an extension in the next few days.

Mancini admits there is a good chance the 28-year-old will remain at the Stadio Olimpico but has made no secret of his admiration for the player, saying he would still like to sign another midfielder despite the imminent arrival of Samir Nasri.

"I need something else in midfield because we have limited options," said Mancini in The Sun.

"I have Barry, De Jong, Milner and Toure - but if you consider the number of games in the league, the Champions League and the FA Cup that is not enough.

"Daniele De Rossi would be absolutely perfect for this team and I rate him as one of the best midfielders in the world.

"But I also have the suspicion that he will stay in Rome his entire career, just like Francesco Totti has done."

Interesting.....

Very... but I think it's an impossible deal. I suspect De Rossi is looking for a pay rise at Roma, not to the leave club.

The mere idea of him joining us is a bit too much for me to handle.

After seeing this I don't now believe our business is done,de Rossi would be a fantastic signing but he will never leave Roma.
It is clear though that Bobby still wants another midfielder,so still a bit of excitement to come hopefully.

cant see us bringing any other midfielders tbh. but de rossi is absolutely perfect for that team, next to ndj
