Man City leave €28M bid on table for Roma rebel De Rossi
31.08.11 | tribalfootball.com

Manchester City will leave a €28 million offer on the table today for AS Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi.

City boss Roberto Mancini admitted last week De Rossi would be "perfect" for his midfield as the player continues to baulk at penning a new contract.

Il Messaggero says Roma have rejected City's offer, but the Premier League club will leave the offer on the table as the transfer window closes tonight.

Roma, meanwhile, have told De Rossi's Sergio Berti, to wait a few days before resuming new contract talks.

I wonder if this is a not so subtle warning to Nigel and his new best mate Kia: "Don't try and take the piss, or else we will simply replace you" . . .
LOL, I hope so :) never Thaught I'd say this, but I hope we don't get him... Id be game if we pre-contracted him in January though, get him for free ;)

He's 28, which is too old to sign for big money. Plus we have too many midfielders as it is.
Erm, yes. Too many attacking mids... But tbh we'd have to get 3 players of de Rossi's position to have too many of them... Ie on sunday when de Jong was out, we only had one senior DM that wasn't in the first team, so what happens when Yaya goes to the ACN? then de Jong gets injured/suspended?

erm we would play Barry and Milner with Zaba and Hargreaves as cover?

overpayment by about 10 million.

Looks like pjanic has signed now. So that's 2 central midfielders they've signed today. I still think this deals has something in it.

I doubt it now tbh. Think we will just end up with Hargreaves.
