Another film along the same lines as this one is "Oldboy" a korean film but it's a revenge story with a twist in the tail. Well worth a look if you haven't seen it.

He doesn't really follow football and has only been to the swamp once ever. His Irish dad was a rag. Boxing is his sport, a big fan.

Watched it, shit ending and abit weird all around tbh

I think the final scene where he confronts the last of the gang is moralistic in that it deals with the fact that he (Richard) has become what he set out to destroy - a monster.

I love the bit where he slips that cocktail of drugs into their water and they end up dribbling and talking gibberish. It's exactly as he says earlier in the film: "I've got you right there, mate" indicating the palm of his hand.

a powerful film. it actually made me feel sorry for the gang despite knowing what they'd done. having someone like that after you would be so scary.
