Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

It doesn't even need to be inside information, the club is on record that a new deal was proposed 16 months ago, during that time Sane has changed agents three times and ceased even speaking to us since last summer about any possibility of reconsidering.

Respectfully, I don't quite understand your last point.

£70m is indeed a great deal of money and is the difference in what we have lost in terms of his market value since last year.

Next year we get nowt, simple economics.

Even accepting our new £150k a week offer at the time of presenting it, our outlay was £7.2m a year. He has deliberately forsaken the best part of £10m in wages to cost our club closer to £70m when this finally plays out.

It's okay though, he'll get at least that back in his pocket from Bayern in terms of his signing on fee, before an even bigger salary.

As for his dignified silence and stance, sometimes actions speak a thousand words.

His continual stalling of talks, his sacking of various agents and, most pertinently, his very public snubbing of City by refusing to use our recommended club surgeon.

I am a huge fan of Sane, always have been.

It will be a sad day for me when he leaves but leave fandom shit at the door.

We support the club, gave him a platform to perform for the best manager in the world, winning plenty trophies along the way.

There would be more respect from many for Leroy if had simply stated last year he wanted to go home and Bayern would be the natural choice for him.

Cynically, he wouldn't do that, for the reasons above, he needed to play his part in driving the price down.

We can't rely on him on the field because we can't trust him.

Professionalism doesn't come into it, he's shown a distinct lack of it on numerous occasions.

Hopefully he can put on a brave face when we beat those entitled Bayern bastards in the final.

That's if he can take his head out of his arse first.
Allow me to play devil’s advocate

“a new deal was proposed 16mths ago”

Maybe he felt the deal undervalued him

“changed agents 3 times”

if the incumbent couldn’t get him the deal he wanted it would be normal to change agents

“ceased speaking to us since last summer”

he didn’t want the proposed deal so there’s nothing to be said unless we make him a new offer

“needed to play his part in driving the price down”

circumstances are driving the price down, City’s refusal to pay him what he wants is just as big a factor in his dwindling value

—————————————————
no longer playing devil’s advocate, with respect I take issue with you saying we can’t trust him on the field. He has his ups and downs like any player but I’ve never seen him not trying and there’s no reason to believe he would deliberately let us down in a game if that’s what you’re implying ?

I know you are only playing Devil's advocate, as stated.

16 months ago he had accepted our terms and said he would be signing once his girlfriend had given birth

He changed his agent for the third time only three months ago, yet neither they or previously, David Beckham's firm, had chosen to reprise negotiations.

I'll amend what I said, we can't trust him on the field because we have already established we can't trust him off it.

Circumstances have driven down the price, but he determined those circumstances even before his injury, to the extent a player of his age and potential, with five years left on his contract, rather than the two years he did have left last summer, would be worth considerably more than the money on offer from Bayern last year.

Bayern would not have even been emboldened to try and approach us in those circumstances, but the circumstances were facilitated by Sane and them working the situation to their advantage.

The injury last summer simply compounded the financial loss we were facing already.

Thanks for the reply, you obviously have some inside knowledge so I’ll take what you say at face value.

Regardless, I don’t hold this kind of thing against him. He’s young, he’s just had a kid, he’s german, the biggest club in Germany and a European institution want him to play for them - I can see why he’d want to go. He’s not a blue, football’s a business, he doesn’t owe us anything - certainly not loyalty.

If he goes, good luck to him. I’ll remember the good times and always think of him fondly.

I don't think we can play him again and if he's smart he wouldn't want to play for us again.

If he were to do the same injury again, or another bad one, Mendy and Gundogan say hi, then he leaves on a free at the end of his contract, and we lose a small (by his true worth) but not insignificant sum.

And good luck getting Bayern to stump up the promised Benjamin's in that scenario Leroy.

There is also an argument that if he proves his fitness it only strengthens our case with bayern that he has recovered.

Yep, my only disappointment is that he wasn't genuine with City or the fans in this entire process.

Nobody would begrudge a young lad wanting to go home to their biggest club.

I'll say this, would you really want all this in Leroy's head if he had to take a penalty in a shoot out against Bayern at any stage left this season!

Hopefully Leroy has a late change of heart, as the market conditions are now completely removed from what they were just three months ago.

United are increasingly resigned to not getting what they want for Pogba and that is impacting their own spending plans.

If the CAS decision does go our way, perhaps he will see there are very few clubs who will be able to thrive in the immediate years.

Personally, and speaking as a Mancunian too, I just think the city might not be enough for him much more, a bit like Mario decided in the end.

Be nice if he ends up staying but I hope he has a more stable career than Mario has had if he goes.

Regarding penalties, if he’d just found out his girl had been sleeping with pep and the kid wasn’t his and the whole dressing room had known all along I’d still fancy Leroy to have more chance of scoring than most of our team.

Your points are excellently made. When you stopped playing Devil's Advocate you added the important opinion that he would not deliberately let us down in a game which is where I was so disappointed by tolmie's reference to not playing him against Bayern.

Thank you for your reply. I am far too old to be stuck in "fandom shit". I asked if you have inside information and you have not answered that question, yet to write that you would want him kept away from a game with Bayern, that "we can't trust him on the field because we have already established we can't trust him off it.", "16 months ago he had accepted our terms and said he would be signing once his girlfriend had given birth", those comments if factual would only be known by someone "in the know" so it would be good to know your perspective, considering how critical you are of his character and integrity. He was advised to go to Dr Fink in Innsbruck, a knee specialist by Dr.Müller-Wohlfahrt who would have treated him long before he came to City. Believe me as a cancer patient, when your future is in doubt going to a doctor you trust is far more important than worrying about who you snub. City bought him for €52 million app., he hasn't had a pay rise because he didn't sign the new contract, if he stays, injury free & virus permitting he will play until 30.6.2021 as one of the lower paid players, look on the bright side, he might score the winner against Bayern or just help to get us to add a few more trophies before he goes for free next year, or go for € 40+million this season, either way it will have been worth watching him.

Are Silva and Aguero joining a team we could be playing in the Champions League in the next few weeks?

As for my original post, I stand by it. Why would we even take the chance at a conflict of interests for Sane playing against Bayern.

He has already been complicit with them for the last 16 months about joining them and costing his existing employers the best part of £70m.

As for a dignified silence? That's just laughable.

He's been silent for good reason, stringing City along for as long as it was convenient to allow his contract to elpase to a point where it became financial advantageous for both him and Bayern.

He has shown a massive amount of disrespect.

I’m presuming you’re in the know he’s strung City along then?

If a player who is offered a new contract doesn’t sign it within a couple of months, then normally the club can work out or negotiate their intentions.

It was fairly obvious he would have moved this time last year, and we didn’t move on it.

We then played him and he got injured, it happens but nobody is likely to take him off our hands there.

If we let him go for peanuts, then clearly some at the club learned nothing from the Milner situation.

Exactly I don't understand why can't we criticize him. His silence has always been deafening and to portray him as a saint by so many peeps here is just ridiculous. I am not saying he is the second coming of Lex Luthor but Bayern did make a mug out of our club and somewhere Sane is an accomplice. There were a thousand different ways this could have gone in a dignified matter but it didn't. In fact Bayern got so sure of Sane moving they started treating him as their own player and one time the bayern coach had to apologise for speaking too much about Sane.

They could have not been so sure or full of themselves unless Sane has already promised them everything.
I respect him and his talents but he may have created the same situation as Sterling and Liverpool.
The only difference is we are not going to racially abuse him or boo him like those reds at liverpool.

To portray him as a lying, disrespectful **** without any grounds other than press speculation and fan hysteria is ok though?

I think you'll find most people who aren't emotional car crashes are simply of the opinion it's wrong to criticise someone and portray them as a lying, disrespectful **** for something in which there is absolutely no concrete proof of that behaviour at all. We live in a country which thankfully views things as "innocent until proven guilty" unless you subscribe to trial by (social) media, which when it comes to defending us against FFP and sports washing I bet you can't stand. If CAS follow that concept we'll be banned for 2 years without a fair hearing, none of us would like that would we.

You can't pick and choose when to subscribe to trial by media unless you're a hypocrite or have inside information. I respect Tolmies ITK status but equally I understand his sources of information may not always be correct, as we see in the transfer threads, we love it but he's not always right because that's impossible. It's the same in my job, you leave enough honeypots about to find out who is leaking information, it doesn't mean the ITK is a liar, it might just mean they've been given false information or something doesn't happen as expected based on correct information.

all we (the fans) can do is wash our hands off him until he stays or leaves ? its not like we can boo him or clap him from home in the rest of the season. am sick of all the crap being written in the media and without any football and behind closed doors happening when it does come back it us fans that are getting the shit end of the stick ??

manchester city fans need some great news or fantastic news. its now getting to me and others ? we need some possessive and up lifting news coming out from the club ? its all been negative from players wanting to leaving to uefa FFP 2 year ban ? and we need something to get us smiling and looking forward to the future

Yes, I was made privy to that information, in answer to your question.

He was also booked by the club to have his operation performed by Dr Ramon Cugat in Barcelona, essentially the club surgeon.

I'll be glad when Sane slings his hook TBH. It's dragged on far too long as his heart is clearly not at MCFC, and it's long overdue that he should come clean and state his future intention. His silence has shown massive disrespect to all at the club. We don't want or need any players here who see us as a stepping stone to another club. He's hanging around like a bad smell and we don't need any player who's heart is elsewhere. As good as he is, get rid ASAP!

I'd be really happy if Sane signed a contract and stayed for another 3-4 years. He's really got it all to go on and become a world class footballer. From what I've seen of Sancho - yes he's good - Sane is in another league. That's not to say I am not really disappointed that he has strung this along the way he has and had all the time in the world to sign during his injury. I hope it is a good sign that he seems really happy with the lads in training.

Questioning a players integrity on the pitch based on absolutely nothing? I’ve seen bans for less. Can’t trust him on the pitch because of his supposed actions off it? It’s called professionalism, even the biggest twats in football act professional. He’s done absolutely nothing on the pitch to even plant a seed of doubt. I suppose we couldn’t trust Gundogan either at the back end of last season in the absence of Fernandinho to put in some phenomenal match and ultimately title winning performances because he was openly seriously considering leaving?

Stop talking sense you idiot. You’ll be out of here quicker than you can say “Dzeko is wank”
