Death of Superman (Nic Cage).

Cage is the great enigma.

He can go from stand out performances to utter shite and no one knows if he is actually a good actor or not.
Wrong. He's shite. He's been in some good movies yeah, but that's just playing the numbers, when you've been in as many as he has some are bound to be good. Fuck all to do with him being in them though.

The **** must have been in more movies in the last 5 years than he was the previous 20.
Mostly terrible but fuck it, I'm not ashamed to say I love me a bit of Nicholas Cage.
Similar to Adam Sandler. It seems the in thing to slag him off for his terrible acting but I can't help enjoying pretty much everything he's in. A big bag of green often helps to enhance the experience in both cases though.. :-)

I had to Google that to work out what the thread was about. Thank God it got cancelled, who would think that Nicholas Cage could possibly make a good Superman? Or indeed a good actor?

Too right, you'd have to pay me to watch either of them as well.

The thing for me is he can make an average film worth at least one watch.

The rock
Snake Eyes
both the ghost rider movies
Drive angry.

All terribly average films, but I enjoyed them because of cages presence

Cage put in decent to excellent performances in Raising Arizona, Bringing Out The Dead, Leaving Las Vegas, Con Air, Kick Ass, Wild at Heart, Rumblefish and the Bad Lieutenant remake. Pretty bad in almost everything else Ive seen him in but I’m sure a great deal of it is ‘phoned in’ for the cash and freedom to do other things with and he doesn’t really give a shit if anyone likes it.

This.
It was said he makes a string of shit movies so he can finance a decent one but that might have originated from his agent.

Raising Arizona remains one of my fave films. He’s past criticism for me now. Does having him in the world enhance my world? Yes.....

I think by now, anyone going to see a Nicholas Cage film pretty much knows what to expect.
Going back to the OP, I don't generally bother with superhero/comic movies but the idea of him as Superman is so hilariously out there that it’s something I would watch, even if only with the morbid curiosity of a motorway car rubbernecker

I did the same with little Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.
