Death Penalty/Executions.

Why don’t you start by not putting words in my mouth? I made no comment on people who believe in the death penalty.

"An eye for an eye is no moral way to behave" isn't that what you said? I am not making this up, you literally posted that people who want an eye for an eye on a death penalty thread don't know how to morally behave.

Which countries still have the death penalty?

Capital punishment by country - Wikipedia

Numbers executed in 2022
  • Americas (1 country): United States (18)
  • Asia (13 countries): Afghanistan (unknown), Bangladesh (4), China (unknown), Iran (596+), Iraq (unknown), Japan (1), Kuwait (7), North Korea (unknown), Saudi Arabia (146), Singapore (11), Syria (unknown), Vietnam (unknown), Yemen (1)
China is probably in the thousands, maybe even in the tens of thousands. Many executions take place within minutes of conviction in gas vans outside the court.

I can't say mate, but I would take a guess that many people are killed for political reasons, I don't trust politicians enough to give them power over executions or euthanasia which is why I would vote against a death penalty.

However morally I would like to see bastards who murder swing.

No. I think you need to learn what a statement of moral belief means. You have translated my statement of my own moral belief into a condemnation of people who disagree with me. I did not “literally post that people who want an eye for an eye….dont know how to morally behave.” You have made that bit up. And I would not have perpetrated such an ugly spilt infinitive.

And therein lies the problem. The issue is not what the murderer deserves, it is what effect does judicial killing have on society and on the people who carry it out. Remove the need for revenge and for sympathy for the offender and the moral issue becomes clear. There are also practical risks like wrongful convictions. See Timothy Evans, an innocent simpleton put to death on a judge’s say so.
I get the risks of wrongful convictions i still dont get the reason someone ends someones elses life under certain circumstances why they should continue to live theirs out, thats the explanation i was looking for. There’s an awful lot of murderers continued with their existence where there is no doubt whatsoever they carried out the crime.

The reason they live on is that there is a lack of belief in the death penalty. Sympathy for the murderer does not come into it. The idea that not executing a murderer is automatically an act of mercy/sympathy towards him is not correct. If a state believes that execution is morally wrong, they have to live with the consequences, however distasteful.
