Death Penalty/Executions.

I don’t disagree. As I say my feelings are mixed and it’s a complex issue.

I’m not in favour of the death penalty but equally have no sympathy whatsoever for violent murderers like this fella in America.

Whereas you get the feeling that there are people who would have happily donated to a gofundme account in his name.

It’s an emotive subject but in a civilised society if someone can explain, why if you deliberately take someone’s life away for gain or simply because them being alive doesn’t suite you, you deserve to continue with your life then i’m all ears.
And therein lies the problem. The issue is not what the murderer deserves, it is what effect does judicial killing have on society and on the people who carry it out. Remove the need for revenge and for sympathy for the offender and the moral issue becomes clear. There are also practical risks like wrongful convictions. See Timothy Evans, an innocent simpleton put to death on a judge’s say so.

That was 74 years ago, crime detection has moved on by a substantial margin. Just say that you are against the death penalty on moral grounds without saying that people who believe in the death penalty have no morality.

That's be a start.

I wonder, is a convict better off with a lifelong imprisonment (and by lifelong I mean lifelong), or with a death-penalty.

Anyways it’s not the first law in the USA that can hardly be stated as civilised. Weird country.

Which countries still have the death penalty?

Why don’t you start by not putting words in my mouth? I made no comment on people who believe in the death penalty.
