Another good reason to pull out.

Pesky interference.

Pull out of the ECHR?

We practically invented it based around our own civil liberties, why would we pull out of it?

There is practically inventing something, and then there is having no say in how it is furthered due to public opinion. That's my point.

But, it's hardly "pesky interference" if it is a convention that we had a major part in creating is it? And what do you mean by 'no say in how it is furthered due to public opinion'? It is largely unchanged since 1953 when it was ratified. If it needed amending then it would be, but it doesn't and the public have never lobbied for it to be changed.

The ECHR is one of the greatest protecting documents of individual freedom anywhere in the world. If we pulled out of it (which we can't really do anyway) then the government could do pretty much whatever they wanted. You might not want your human rights, but I'd rather keep mine if that's okay.

THE ECHR is not the EU. 'Pulling out' would be a huge step back.

the taxpayer should not be forced to pay for these drains on our finances and infrastructure when there is zero chance of rehabilitation

let them suffer for a while on death row not knowing if or when so they get to share some of the fear and pain that their victims had to endure and then top the evil useless scum

does this make us as bad as them I hear some cry? No, to me this is no worse than putting down a dog that has attacked a child for example...

serial murderers/ child murderers/ people that murder and try to behead people in the street ....................get rid

If even one innocent person is killed by the government for a crime they didn't commit, then that is one too many. This is why it can never be brought back, even if you shirk the obvious hypocrisy of murdering murderers.
So you can steal from a thief (they probably won't pay a fine willingly) and you can imprison a kidnapper, but you can't kill a murderer.

Just being awkward as it will never be brought back.

I have thought and commented on this subject a good few times and beforehand i have always been an advocate Of the death penalty.
Now however my outlook on life has changed. An innocent man/woman can be release from prison. They cannot be ressurected from death.
This is the crux of the 'con' argument.
And i have to say i now tend to agree.
However people who kill must be punished. It is not a punishment to live thw next 20-30 years in relative luxury (comparedto some) fed 3 times a day, receive education, wages and perks.
I would prefer prison to be hard. Im talking hard labour, breaking rocks for no reason, Digging for coal, make them actually work back a debt to the society they chose to abandon when they killed another human.
If i had my way, i would have every prisoner in england sorting out rubbish into recycling piles. It would aave local councils a small fortune in the 5 bins each household has ro have emptied every other week and save the world a bag at a time as well.
(obviously im being a little tongue in cheek here but i think you get my meaning)
Make jail a proper punishment!

And if they refuse to do any Labour ?

They dont get fed!

Your keyboard warrior posting style puts me more in mind of Scrappy Doo tbh ;-)

No slight in my posts my friend. I believe every word I post.. :)

Everyone knows the death penalty is more expensive overall than life sentences right? I mean actual money wise not valuing feelings and living in a 2nd class society either. Don't let facts get in the way of your argument though.

The problem for me is that evil bastards are not given full life sentences.
The only thing that i agree with the US system.
Spot on. There's nothing better than hearing of someone who has been given a thousand-year sentence for something, and that's where the yanks have it nailed.

On top of that I would like to see jail for rapists, murder's and paedo's actually mean being literally locked up. A cell with no windows and no human contact or interaction. A concrete bed and concrete pillow. A sheet. A bucket to piss and shit in, which gets emptied once a week. 3 basic meals per day and just water to drink. And that's it really because seeing as the death penalty isn't active over here, if I was unfortunate enough to have a Huntley do something to a member of my family, the only peace I would get would be to know that his existence inside is as basic as it could be, and that a lifetime of that will send him crazy.

I used to be a huge advocate of the death penalty however having grown a little older have realised that in a civilised society like ours to kill someone for killing another,be it a child or anyone, is just not correct. I speak as a parent and god forbid should anyone hurt my kids however I would want them to just rot in jail for life.
I don't think it will ever be brought back.
