Death Penalty

No. There are no "pros" only "cons".

I disagree pominoz, if say someone brutally murdered somebodies child, the family of the child get a life sentence of mourning, hanging would give peace to that family and show that the perp had suffered a similar fate and would not be free to say or do anything to antagonise the family, that for me is a pro.

a life sentence in some cases can mean 15 years only so the family (who still mourn their loss) have to contend with possibly coming face to face with the murderer of their child.

I agree there are some cons with the death penalty but to say there are no pro's is wrong

If someone brutally murders a child and gets 15 years I'd be astonished.

Does make me laugh how people think the death penalty is the worst punishment available. If you gave me the choice of being locked up for the whole of my life in a tiny cell with an uncomfortable bed and next to no entertainment, shit food and constantly looking over my back for every second I was in there or to be painlessly killed by an injection I would pick the death everytime.

Prison despite what the media try to have you believe is a horrible place and so people who commit these disgusting crimes should not get to have an easy way out by being sentenced to death. They should have to spend every second of their remaining life in there suffering.

Ok. Slight discrepancy. I'm talking about getting 15 years. You are talking serving 15 years.

Didnt Myra Hindley do a degree ?

thats hardly suffering is it, they have tv's in their cells

and Ive heard Strangeways has put a bulk order in for these

There are cases where the extreme actions of the individual(s) carrying out the crime makes the death penalty entirely justified (Adebolajo for example). When it come to the burden of proof, technology has moved us forward to the point where we can remove all reasonable doubt.

I have been thinking about the Daniel Pelka case and it got me thinking about the death penalty. Should it be brought in for certain cases. I really don't have a problem with it for child killers and maybe serial killers. Or is a "life" sentence better, 30 yrs plus.

I can see lots of pros but not many cons.

Sometimes they (the legal system) get it wrong....imagine if you were the one that had the finger wrongly pointed at you.

Poor Timothy Evans, was such an instance, an innocent man sent for an appointment with Mr Pierrepoint.

Lets just make sure these evil people serve their full sentence, with no parole.

I agree that life should mean life, but there is no way i could support the death penalty.
