Debt Collection Baliffs - To ignore or to pay

So - long story short my wife took our kids to a playbarn and entered a digit wrong with reg number.

For the last 18 months we have had DCBL (Direct Collection Baliffs Ltd), sending letters every few weeks on behalf of UK Parking Control Limited. Letters getting more strongly worded and now saying they will be commencing legal action for the 160 quid.

So my advice was to just ignore and they will lose interest as not worth taking us to court, however it is entering squeaky bum time as obviously I don't want baliffs coming round or getting bad credit as we are looking to get a larger mortgage soon.

Basically should I pay or carry on ignoring? Thanks
Do not pay. You can only get a CCJ if it’s taken to court and then you do not pay the fine.
They pray on people giving in to bullshit language/ threats.

Thanks for the advice.

We tried to appeal but it was a very arduous process and had to jump through so many hoops - writing them a letter etc. But obviously failed as still getting letters.

Being a bit of a fanny, I might just pay rather than letting it progress any further. Even though being in a channel 5 documentary does sound appealing.

Cheers guys
If you pay you are an absolute lemon. Sorry but you have no reason to pay this

I had a similar issue shall we say with a company that tried to screw me out of parking but in my own private space. Let’s just say the threading letters, the multiple yellow parking charges I received did not work and not a single penny was sent from me.

You didn’t appeal when you had the chance so they’ve probably got you by the bollocks now.

You’ll always get conflicting opinions online and those who say “ignore” have nothing to lose. Have you? And have you got nerves of steel?

I was in debt management for Lloyds TSB and there was little to stop anyone signing up for twenty credit cards, maxing them all out and not paying back a penny. The debt would be wiped after six years and they could start all over again. Many did.

I have received an email from a company saying they are acting behalf of another company asking me to repay money for a loan I supposedly took out in 2017.

I have never heard of either of these companies and never took out the loan they are saying I did.

I’ve tried looking online but the only information and advice I can find is more related to dealing with companies pressuring people to take out a loan rather than my situation.

I have emailed them back saying that I never took out that loan and they haven’t got back to me. I find it strange that they emailed me rather than sent a letter.

I have an account with Clear Score and my credit score is excellent and on my account with them it shows I’ve never missed a payment on anything.

Is there anyone I should speak to about this? Or should I just ignore and block them? Any advice would be appreciated!
