Decent shoes

Some good recommendations here. I’ll just add my comments on several already mentioned;

Smarter - can’t go wrong with a pair of brogues from any of the Northampton makers. I’m a fan of longwings and the Loake Royals are a good value. Trickers from their country range if you want some real gunboats that will outlive you. Allen Edmonds and especially Alden if you want something decent from the USA.

Casual - Clark’s, but only their desert boots. Astorflex have two takes on the desert boot and they are both as comfy as hell. Their Beanflex is the direct version of Clark’s and a little hard to find, the Greenflex is a little more sturdy all round and better for long walks. Paraboot are also great, though a bit clunky-looking.

Clark’s Wallabees are nice n’all

Random European club shirt during the day (Partizan Belgrade, Malaga, Union Berlin) and a sports t-shirt at night, tracksuit top, straight leg jeans, Adidas trainers. That’s seen me right for years.

Loakes Brighton loafers are my favourites. Grenson Fred boots, brilliantly made and Church's monk strap for smarter. None of them cheap though.

I’m 40 and am still in Adidas. Usually have six pairs. Some city series as best and Gazelles to run around in. I’m a very casual dresser.
SL 72 are the best trainers I've ever bought. I've got a few city series and gazelles, but these fuckers are amazing

Oxfords, not brogues.

My father is a retired surgeon who spent a great majority of his life on his feet on the hard floors of hospitals & surgical wards and one of my lasting memories is of him always on the look out for a smart but comfortable/supportive shoe - it was like the race with no finish line

I find myself doing similar over the years and like some in here I have a few smart/dress shoes that are comfortable & sharp (Gucci, Allen Edmonds & Ferragamo) but for more business casual I landed on Mephisto & Ecco (Vitrus line). They are not super stylish regrettably but in terms of comfort, they are unparalleled in my experience and I have run the gamut of many mentioned here already
