Declan Rice

funnily Kovacic is much closer to Gundo than Rice also much more used to play at higher tempo in top teams obviously.
I would only get involved to help WHU to drive the price up that Arse has to pay for Rice so they have less to strengthen elswhere.

As per the rumours seems like WHU also expecting or hoping City to get involved either to offer better money than Arse or just drive up the price and create bit of panic and competition.

Rice would offer legs in midfield, but not much close to opponent box where we play hell of a lot in most games box where Gundo often excelled creating chances, scoring goals in crucial moments, be an extra body inside the box, or lke in CL final drive down the left of box, to play the ball back to Foden. cant see Rice doing any of these.

We need creativity, high football IQ in midfield areas, more in the mould of Kimmich, de Jong etc, espcially with KDB aint getting younger and fitter either.

Rice could fill a multitude of positions, you need a back up for rodri he can't play every match, phillips is not going to make it no matter how long you give him, pep may have something else planned for Rice he's an expert in that. He seems an intelligent player, who can be moulded, young can play a lot of maches. Kova signing strange one.

Whilst I don’t necessarily disagree, if I trust anyone to pick a midfielder, it’s Pep. So I’m happy to trust the system and management at present.

If they think he’d do it, especially as a marquee signing, then I can’t really argue.

Dear West Ham

Please find enclosed £85m payable over two years plus Kalvin. Sign at the bottom and welcome to Manchester Declan.

p.s Sorry Arsenal, actually not sorry, go fuck youselves.

I think his ability to play centre back, holding mid and box to box will have Pep drawn to him.

If we can rotate between Rodri, Rice, Kovacic, Foden, De Bruyne and Bernardo we're laughing.

I'd have him for the flexibility he offers. A lot of money but we have shit tonnes of it after the season we just had.

bloodyhell you are generous.

If Phillips was included we would not need to pay that much, Id say £45m payment upfront and Phillips, it gives them cash in their pocket and the replacement they want.

We have to go and get him now
Why?

I'd argue someone like Mount is much closer in profile to Gundogan than Rice is... If we hadn't signed Phillips then I'd agree that we should be in for Rice but it's complete overkill in that position when we have bigger needs elsewhere. Especially if Bernardo is leaving as well.
