I just don’t see the need for this deal at all. Let him go to Arsenal if they're stupid enough to pay £100m for him. He's definitely not in that class of player. Let's keep bringing the net spend down and don't let the fuckers in the media have reasons to keep throwing the money excuse at us. I'm sure we can make do with what we have got if Bernardo stays. KDB, Rodri, Foden, Phillips, Kovacic & Bernardo isn't bad at all. Plus Stones can operate in there.

I’d be utterly astonished if we didn’t make a further bid, we must have assumed arse would up their own.

Hopefully we’ve got the Kalvin card up our sleeve, £60mil cash up front plus Phillips would surely seal a deal?
I would rest very easily if that was your follow up offer

If we look back to last season pep played rodri to within an inch of his life and we got away with it... He gambled on him every single game as we didn't have a single player in the squad who pep thought he could rely on and do the same job without the quality of that role and position drop off a cliff

If we would of had to of played Phillips or any other player in rodri's roll we wouldn't be sat on a treble right now it's as simple as that

Pep must think that rice once moulded into our style of play is the one to give rodders some breathing space and rest in certain parts of the season and the quality not drop away so we can still keep the juggernaut going

let's face it if rodders gets any type of injury and out for even a few weeks we are a little bit fecked and we really do need to cover that scenario...the 100 million is what it is even tho personally I think it's bonkers money for rice but the management etc must feel it's a price worth paying for even the initial bid to of gone in in the 1st place ... let's be honest we ain't guna just make the one bid after probably spending best part of last season identifying main targets to then say feck that for the sake of a few more million it will of been a waste of a seasons future planning

we will have a price we will pay,if we dont sign him

:we don't look weak, we look like we have a price and wont go higher
: we haven't bid to push the price up , that woman looked fucking stupid saying that , whoever repeats that is fucking stupid
he isn't being bought to cover rodri,he is being bought to replace john stones in the position stones did so well in.

are @richards30 and @DeBlueLou the same person :)

all imo

Put it this way, if Rice goes to you for £105mil and then Sullivan comes to us for Phillips do you think we’d do him a favour?
Or us if they look to Nketiah or Balogun as a long-term Antonio replacement. Most West Ham fans want a new striker.

Fully agree, there has to be far better options out there when that kind of money is involved. If we are able to hold on to Bernardo we are in a good place.

Let Arsenal blow their budget on him.

Think our next offer will be our last, if we do make one. Just wonder if we have a back up signing lined up. Like the idea of Rice in our midfield,we’d look really strong.
Buying the best available English players should be a club policy if they fit our profile.

Not unless that sets the precedent now again in the market? I think we will go one more time and at least match their bid with better payment terms and can probably offer Kalvin at a deal price of around £40m
Has anyone suggested City will make another bid? Just feels very stupid to go above Grealish and Bellingham for a lesser player

How so, YOU have set the market that an england international midfielder from a team who finished 14th is worth 105m, explain to me how that doesnt maker kalvin phillips a young england international who has just finished a season with the treble winners isnt worth 60m , by arsenals logic he absolutely is
