Clubs' attention to detail on statistics is astounding in this day and age, and not just in football. Clubs will make decisions on the way they play, players they go and sign, and will win games and even trophies with statistics being a huge part in the decisions on the way to all of those.Hihosilva said:That proves statistics are not worth the paper they're written on.
It is exactly what statistics they pay attention to that is the important thing.
Something like the stats in this thread are often just coincidences or don't tell the full story. It could be that if Kompany had played in the games he missed, the goals conceded could have been exactly the same. It could be that there could be games he has played in and we won conceding more goals than the average without him, that, had he not played, we could have lost.
But statistics are hugely important and interesting if you find relevant and correct ones.
