Man City eyes on a Jermain Defoe switch
Tom Hopkinson
Harry Redknapp will have to part with Jermain Defoe if he wants to land Manchester City hitman Craig Bellamy.
Tottenham boss Redknapp has again been linked with Bellamy in the wake of the player's bust-up with boss Roberto Mancini last week, and City hope to turn that interest around and use it to their advantage.
The Eastlands outfit had a look at Spurs star Defoe, 27, last summer, although they did not make a firm bid.
But Defoe's blistering form this season means they are now considering a huge offer to both player and club.
Redknapp will not want to lose his star man, but the offer of Bellamy and a significant transfer fee - the total would have to top £20million - would leave White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy with a serious decision on his hands.
Defoe has hit 16 goals this term, with only Wayne Rooney and Didier Drogba ahead of him in the scoring charts.
NO DEAL!!!
