Still no idea where people want him to play if we sign him. He can only really play attacking midfield well and we already have a better player there in Kev. Do we force Kev to play somewhere he is less effective to accommodate him? In that case we have to lose the pace on the wings which has been so effective. Or do we spend a fortune on Alli to then play him in a position that isn't his best? He's not a dictating midfield player, he doesn't control the game, he doesn't keep the ball particularly well and you'd lose his only top class attribute (getting in the box and scoring goals) by playing him further back. Or do we have an £80m sub just in case Kev needs a rest and Dave isn't available?

If we want a long term replacement for Spanish Dave (not convinced we need one given that we have De Bruyne now) then we may as well go for someone who can also either play on the wing or play deeper, like Dave has been doing lately. (Personally I think it's a no brainer that his replacement is Bernardo Silva, we wouldn't even have to get new shirts)

On paper, yes. But it's an extra ego to manage, would be a large portion of our transfer budget and isn't a position that requires our immediate attention.

On top of that, there is absolutely zero guarantee that he'll reach Lampard's level. In my opinion, he's better than Frank was at his age but that guarantees nothing in the long term.

We have bigger problems, and I don't see him leaving Spurs for a little while; if he performs this well for another couple of seasons then sure, we may well need a player like him then & I'd be happy to go for it. For me at least, the time to go for someone like Alli isn't this summer.

I think we`re all in agreement that we need to spend heavily on the defence and that will be rectified,off that I`m in no doubt.
However,we may have more money in the transfer bank than we think (fans) so maybe another top quality player is an option.Sometimes if an opportunity comes along,then maybe we need to act positively and look at the long term picture.

Like that fantastic Lampard and Gerrard problem England had that crippled a golden generation with it's failed attempts to get them in the same team? I don't think it's a good problem to have at all, especially one to force on yourself by buying a player you have no room for, that's shocking planning.

Silva and De Bruyne are amongst the best chance creators in the world and they're a big reason as to why we're doing that bit successfully. We'd either have to remove one of them or change our entire system to accommodate him. Doesn't seem too logical.

Get Dele Alli and Marco Veratti and our midfield is sorted for years to come.
