Dembele

Modric is cover/replacement for Alonso, he can play along side Xavi instead of Khedira or he can cover Ozil, Ronaldo or Di Maria, he is alot better than Dembele in my opinion and was spurs best player, Dembele is good but Modric is world class.

A fantastic buy for Spurs. He would be perfect in the central role with Yaya. Also, seems like we've messed up the Sinclair deal. Not sure why we've become all frugal all of a sudden, maybe mancini had second thoughts and didn't want to up the offer.

All in all a very disappointing transfer window from City, anything that comes up this week will seem like a desparate measure.

So they pay around the same amount for Dembele than what we paid to Everton for Rodwell.

15m for Dembele or 12m+5m bonus for Rodwell?

I'm tired talking about Marwood. But Soriano has to put him where he belongs. He should be Chappy's assistant to write names on the shirts. Not huge millions on checks...
What next? Nastasic for 12m+bonus + Savic?

Good buy for Spurs.

Nastasic for 12m euros + Savic and likely add ons is also very likely mate.

Even more reason to hate Marwood :/

Why is everyone going over the top here. I admit on occasions he has looked good but on others he has looked ordinary maybe even disinterested. He is as far as I am aware classed as an attacking midfielder. He has 3 goals last season and 2 the season before. That's 5 in 60 games. He also has 5 assists in those 60 games.

AJ in 57 games around half as sub scored 10 set up 7 and most were happy to see him go, me included.

To suggest Dembele is better than Modric is slightly OTT.
Never rated Modric. Flattered to deceive, didn't hurt teams, went missing in the big games. Glad we never went in for him. Dembele makes spurs a much more dangerous attacking outfit, playing off Ade
Disagree. Modric is a fantastic player. People that make the best judgement on players are the ones that see them week in week out for a full 90 plus mins. Spurs fans reckon he's one of the best they have seen play for them.

I do think that with Dembele we can possibly be more dangerous in attack but I'd be surprised if he can control a game as well as Modric can. That said, under Redknapp teams could shut us down just by pressing and Modric's influence was completely undermined due to Mr. Tactically Inept. 'Arry would also not see any problem with playing Modric out on the left wing or playing 4-4-2 against the top teams leading us to get outnumbered/dominated in midfield instead of playing to Modric's strengths.

Hopefully that's finished under AVB so Dembele could possibly be a more influential player for us.

Where does Dembele actually play? I thought Spurs used Modric in a midfield 2 in a 4-4-1-1 formation, so would Dembele directly replace him there?

But he played one good game against Utd so he qualifies for a shirt in the Champion's team. If Dennis Bailey was still around, he would be a shoe in to replace Dzeko.
