Demichelis new contract?

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say I don't think we should give him an extra year. Don't get me wrong after a shaky start he has been brilliant for us but he'll be 35 next year and we have young promising CB in Rekik and Denayer. We can't just keep loaning them out as they will just see no future at City and push for a permanent move elsewhere. We need to start promoting the youth to show any potential youth signing that there is a way into the first team.

What does Denayer and Rekik do? Yet another year out on loan?

Kompany nor Boyata aren't leaving. Can't imagine they'll sell Mangala. Demochelis was the bright spark for these young lads to get a place in the squad.

Can't imagine two lads playing first team football at places like Celtic and PSV are going to be pleased to come back and told they're 5th and 6th choice.

Trading short term gain for long term gain yet again

What makes you so sure Boyata isn't leaving?

Rekik can be sold, not good enough. Denayer can replace Boyata either this summer or the next. So 4 centre halves Kompany/Mangala/Demichelis/Boyata or Denayer. Looks a healthy situation to me.

Have you seen him play?

Deserves a new contract.

Of our defense he and Clichy have been the most consistently good all season.

great news, he can slowly be phased out over the coming seasons for rekik and denayer to come in

Perhaps more to it than that ? MP's words "he's a leader of the group", maybe he's being kept on to mentor some of the younger players, his experience is invaluable imho, and we shouldn't get rid of players with experience, its not just the young lads that can learn from him, Kompany could take some parts of his game and adapt his own imho.

Definitely keep him. Great to have around the place. I'd try and keep him even after he finishes playing to help coach the defenders.

Pellegrini obviously values him as a Lieutenant and will want to keep him here as long as he himself is.As above, his experience is as valuable on the pitch as it is off,he's also an extremely likeable character to have around the gaff.

Yes, for City u18s, u19s, u21s, first team, Holland u19, u21 and a few times for Feyenoord. And he isn't good enough.
