There is no room for this lad
I see Rodri as a mistake buy.
He's not a bad player by any means, but he doesn't move us forward as a team. Pep does have this element of player buys in his portfolio. These deals tend to offset his genius buys with the average ones.
Zakaria looks to have the Touré B model about him. He's tall, but needs more muscle combined with his athleticism to be as influential as Yaya was in the mid.
At least he moves the play forward and not side-to-side like Rodri and has the ability to get forward and back unlike Rodri.
I'm sorry, but Rodri is average and I have given him a long time to get to this assessment. I would capture Zakaria and offload Rodri back to Spain at a slight loss next after next season.
Toure slowed down our play more than any other player in the later years, he just hogged the ball and only passed it when he thought he could get it back instantly.Well, he needs to do something with him as he's partly the problem in the team when it comes to possession and transition from defence to attack. Plenty of promising attacks have broken down cos he doesn't 'see' the obvious or creative pass forward. KDB does this job, but when he's not on the pitch and Rodri is it all comes to a stop. It's annoying.
It's why Yaya is missed SOOO much!
Yeah it does, it allows Pep to play a faster player alongside or inplace of Rodri when he thinks he is going to get overwhelmed
Rarely seen such absolute nonsense. Rodri may not be quick but he is a top level CDM and he has shown it plenty of times this season. His vision and passing ability is amazing. He doesn’t have telepathic abilities to tell Otamendi, Walker, Stones, and Mendy to concentrate. I can’t see why he should get the blame when the majority of the goals we have conceded this season have come from individual errors. The reason behind our poor season in the league is down to our inability to finish our chances and moronic errors from our defenders. Shipping Rodri away to get a new toy will not fix those problems.

Joining us is a huge transition for Rodri, he's come from a notoriously defensive setup at Athletico who play very safe and direct, he's also had a lot mor time in Spain, the intensity of the league and fixture schedule isn't remotely similar. Give the lad time, he's very intelligent and we generally see a huge step up in performance in the second season (e.g. Bernardo, Mahrez). He'll be immense for us, even more so as it looks like we'll play two holding midfielders in some games moving forward.
You'll have to re-word that or elaborate because it makes very little sense in its current form or I'm just reading it wrong.YT "slowed down our play more than any other player in the later years". Bit of a difference to adapt to the players you have in the changing side. YT had trust issues on the field in his later years and was a driven borne winner for City. Much needed in our team back then.
But, I'm happy to wait and see, which is why I said getting rid the season after next, not this upcoming season.

Yes but I disagree. Anyway, let's not get away from the thread topic.A quicker YT took charge when he first came, trusted in the players around him in his middle tenure and not so much in transition building towards the end.
He came at a time we needed him and carried us up until his brain was quicker than his legs.
Clearer...?
Give Rodri time he’s a quality player. He’s still young. One for the future. he just needed a season to adapt imo..next season he will be a better player no doubt about it.I agree.
Rodri is a good player but doesn't have that proper "destroyer" vibe and lacks pace.
