Denis Zakaria

The Double Pivot podcast analysts were asked which player could have most improved Man City.

Firstly they said that by far the main problem was getting a DM that was like a younger Fernandinho. Much more important than a left back or another striker.

The player they identified was Denis Zakaria from BM in Germany.

I've no Idea if they are correct but that’s their opinion.

Obviously the guy to replace Dinho.

I’ll be honest and say I don’t know much about him but they agreed with you and said it was obvious.

Maybe in January or June City will try for him.
I don't see much of Yaya in him to be honest so the talk of Dennis being a hybrid of Yaya/Dinho doesn't work for me, I see him more as having certain attributes similar to Dinho's / Essien's style of play. I think we need these type of players in our team, right now we have Rodri and Ake, dinho would be leaving soon, Gundo isn't the combative midfield type so there's more than enough space for a player like Dennis.

i honestly believe that fifa/FM start half of these generational talents(fucking hate that saying), I've never seen him play, and i reckon half the people who say he's brilliant haven't seen him play, but he's pretty good on fifa ,so that gets fed into twitter ,and all of a sudden these players are brilliant

as for the fernadinho/ yaya hybrid, I'm pretty certain there is no such player. and if there was he would be the best midfielder in the world, imo

his most recent injury is a bit worrisome though. injured his knee in march and still is not fit. him and the club first said its nothing major but he still cannot train 100%.

he is nothing like yaya (prime). because he dribbles once in a while? passing range is way lower/long shots etc

if i really had to compare him to a player id say he has certain characteristics of kante/essien with a much bigger frame.

And we have nodody at all, like that, even if we only wanted them to play 5 games a season.

Fair comment re injury.

If Pep is half the coach his reputation says he is, he should be able to get a player like that, smooth off any rough edges & turn him into a valuable asset for the squad.

He can still play his Gundogans if he prefers, but at least we actually have a player who is different, as an option. There are loads of games where we could use such a player & rest others, even if he wasn't considered the ideal 'Pep player' & in tough games a player like that could win it for us.

If there is a better option, great, sign him instead but ffs let's have one in the 25.
