Denmark v Finland | Euro 2020 Group Stage

@ChicagoBlue and @madloaf.....

Keep it up and you'll be taking a little break from this thread. This is your final warning.

1. Put each other on ignore.
2. Knock the argument on the head.
3. If you have to continue the argument and can't (for some unknown reason) put each other on ignore, take the argument to pms.
Just saw this.

My apologies.

Apologies if already being discussed, but UEFA obviously isn't prepared for such case.

Humans after a shock event can't deliver a normal competitive performance, that's not rocket science. The player's mental health should be more important than TV money or fans in the stadium.

If football REALLY was less important in that moment, UEFA should have abandoned the match counted as a draw.

If 1 team wouldn't agree, a drawing procedure should find the result (win, draw or loss).

Players would have time to get over that situation and talk about it, and next match on Thursday wouldn't be such a problem.

A draw is not possible, it would fuck up the whole group and because of this stupid 4 3rd place teams qualify it could fuck up the whole tournament with people getting sent home because of a point from a game that didn't happen.

I appreciate the urge to make things as fair as possible on the Danish players but you can't do that at the expense of other players. Some will have worked their whole life to get to a Euros and only have 1 chance, and you can't have them getting knocked out because of a draw being called to benefit both sides involved.

I think it's interesting (although not surprising) that all of the blame is being laid at UEFA's door.

The prevailing narrative seems to be that UEFA rocked up to the dressing room asked the players to make a choice.

The truth is that UEFA officials contacted the Danish FA, and they contacted the management of the team, and they told the players to choose.

I think if the players were unable to function properly because of the shock, if they were not in a right mind to make that decision, the people who should be taking charge are the management, the team medical staff and psychologists, the FA executives.

These are people whose job it is to look after the players. These are people who aren't best friends with Christian Eriksen, who are a step removed and should have taken the decision away from the players.

Ultimately though, no one wanted to do that. No one wanted to make the big decision, so they passed the buck until it ended up at the players.

Said as much on the night.

Working in a Hospital,i personally got to see Cardiac arrests on a daily basis.

You never quite get used to seeing people dying, and then being resuscitated,it is really is a very stressful situation for all involved.Doctors,Nurses, and families.

It will have affected everyone mentally out there on the Pitch when it happened. No way could they perform ,or function properly afterwards.

Some will likely seek counselling.

Absolutely disgusting to send both those teams out to finish that game.

Should have been awarded as a draw. The only really fair solution.

We said it in the thread at the time: the players and management shouldn’t have been asked to make the decision. even schmeichel who is clearly one of the leaders of the team has come out and said they shouldnt have had to play.

imagine what a less vocal, more junior player was feeling. the result reflects they couldn't function as footballers
