Denmark v Finland | Euro 2020 Group Stage

Thankfully I missed the situation unfold. Absolutely awful and I hope the medical teams at the hospital can return him to full health. We are all rooting for you son.

The coverage getting a slaughtering on here, but I thought, given the circumstances and the shock, the coverage was at a distance and was trying desperately not to be intrusive.
Thankfully no replays were shown and when they did move to a camera showing something distressing, the didn't linger And it was at distance.

Thank god all our prayers were answered.
Again, well done Alty and the medical people.

People complaining about the coverage.....whilst continuing to watch it themselves. “OMG how awful was it to see his wife on the pitch” etc.

If you didn’t turn off you are as bad as the producer who decided not to cut to the studio.

Andy got out of bed, went downstairs and told his wife he wasn't feeling well, rolled his eyes and collapsed, that was his life gone, in an instant.
Happened to a BM poster back in 2006. Mid 40s, never smoked, liked a drink but nothing excessive. Postman by occupation so walked a lot too. By all appearances very fit and healthy. Collapsed playing 5 a side one night. The shock on here when we were told the news was profound.
The fact something so unexpected and horrible could snatch someone away who was such a larger than life character on here was shocking.

I can not stress how you should all learn resus.. You will not understand how common it is..And doing the course once is just not enough, you have to keep practising because you forget..teach your family including children..10 % survive out of hospital cardiac arrests and through education this is now a much improved figure..many locations now have AEDs in communities.. know where yours is. It isnt scary, you stick a pad on the chest and it does the rest. I hope this episode has taught you all and every football fan, that this can happen and you must be prepared to save a life. Some stories here support this need.Bless you all and hope that none of you ever face this.Sorry for being emotional about this.

Andy was a character as well, very well liked. He ended up being investigated in relation to one of his clients, nothing to do with him but possibly added a bit of stress into the situation.

That probably didn't help, but sometimes it's just waiting to happen.
It's like the silent killer isn't it. Terrible for not just the victim, but also their loved ones.
Strangely enough yesterday morning my partner and I were discussing this very thing in relation to Gabby Logan's young brother. It also happened to a friend's sister in law, who was only 16 or so.

I actually saw that match in a bar in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, A couple of Leeds fans were in there, and were disgusted with him, saying that it wasn't the first time he'd "over-exaggerated" being challenged.
IIRC, the Burnley - City match followed on from that game., which we won 1- 0.

I have never had any training whatsoever in how to deal with this. Once you get to Northern Premier and above all clubs are supposed to have someone medically trained on hand but this is usually not very advanced. The referee does not even have to have a 1st aid certificate which I have always found strange when you consider a lot of referees will be reffing Sundayleague/pub sides etc. It's certainly something the FA should look into.

I used to referee a pre season friendly for Tow Law every year which was for the Heart Foundation charity. This was because a player had died on the pitch and the only person medically qualified was the referee who was a policeman. If there had been someone present with proper training the outcome may have been different.
I am willing to admit I am one of Taylors many critics, but what he did yesterday supersedes any criticism I may have, he did well, very well and I am glad he was the official there on the day.

It makes you wonder how some others may have handled it? There would be those who would have insisted the game continued... thank heavens Taylor was not one of those.

I remember that time well mackenzie and whilst his name evades me Im certain it will come back to me in time. I remember Ric (I think) and others representing BM at his funeral.

The person concerned was a real decent type, he met me and my wife at Piccadilly to take us to the Waldorf - so very sad,

Yeah, scarblu. A few of us went to the funeral. And you are completely right--- he was the salt of the earth.
Terrible time.
