Denton and Gorton by-election - Green Party wins

Right, but my argument is that it was the difference maker for them. The day before the election the polling suggested, by demographic, that white Brits were mostly voting Reform in the constituency, I think I saw 60% off the top of my head, and only 20% of white Brits were voting Green.

Gaza is a deciding electoral issue for a small minority of non Muslims. Reducing immigration ranks far far higher in all parts of the country but for a few pockets.

My point is the Greens tactics won’t work nationwide to win a general election.
You got a source for those figures? I know a fair few white Brits who voted Green, including myself. The leaflets I got from the Greens concentrated more on local issues than anything else. As I’ve already told you, they campaigned on multiple issues that resonated with multiple demographics. Maybe you should listen to Hannah Spencer’s victory speech - you’ll find that she covered a multitude of issues.

Campaigning on Gaza alone won’t win a General Election, but neither will campaigning on immigration alone.

Not saying I agree with how he put it across, although what I will say is I like Tolmie and always have done, but I will just leave this quote here:

“Some communities can change dramatically and rapidly and that can be disconcerting for some people. That doesn’t make them… xenophobes or racists.” - Jeremy Corbyn
I’m far from Corbyn’s biggest fan but are you seriously comparing what he said to the hate-filled shite Tolmie is banging out?

Gaza is a serious issue for many in the electorate, especially younger people.
It is a clear case of right Vs wrong, and the continued support of Israel is a statement about who you are as a politician for many voters.
It is not an isolated issue. Many are voting Green because they believe that opposing Israel is the right thing to do, just as they believe that boosting public services is, and addressing inequality is.

Sorry I’ll hold my hands up, wasn’t quite 60/20 as I said, I had just seen it and was trying to remember. I’ve dug it out, this was a poll produced the day before I believe. It still shows my general premise of what I was saying is correct.

Yeah and I agree the Greens won’t just campaign on Gaza, but what I am saying is there other stuff won’t be strong enough to win a GE.

Thanks. I did think that 60% seemed high. What that tells me is that 45% of white Brits were intending to vote for the 2 main left-leaning parties and 46% were intending to vote for the 2 main right-leaning parties so the split was pretty even. What was more odd is seeing a bigger percentage of ethnic minorities intending to vote Tory than white Brits.

I’m sure if that gets verified, they’ll kick him out
Was also another video of him giving it the Allah Akbar patter as well. And yet he remains in place.

Interesting that he is so pro Iran as that was how they overthrew the Shah. Played the lefty socialists like a fiddle and then executed them in football stadiums once the Ayatollah took control.

Should make things interesting if they manage to get more seat in a GE.

But hopefully the silent majority come out to stop these fanatical interlopers from gaining any power in GB.

I don't think anyone expects the Greens to form the next government, but could well form a coalition with Labour as the "silent majority" will ensure that the Temu Tories get nowhere near Downing Street

You do realise what Allahu Akbar means? It’s not just a phrase used by Islamic extremists.

I’d like to see some more meat on the bones before forming an opinion on this. Because as of now, all we have to go on is a single tweet and nothing from the media, not even those media outlets who would love to pen a negative story about the Green Party. I’d like to see some confirmation as to who organised that demonstration yesterday because from the video I’ve seen, it looks more like a Stop the War type demo than one supporting the despotic Iranian regime. Apparently Corbyn was there too.

If it turns out that he is in bed with extremists then I’m sure appropriate action will be taken. And it’ll hardly be the first time that a political party has had someone in its ranks who has turned out to be a wrong ‘un, and it will be far from the last.

Yep. Being opposed to Western led regime change interventions doesn't equate to support for the regime. It's like saying everyone who demonstrated back in 2003 were supporters of the Baath party in Iraq.

Muslims say that term everyday, even Khusanov probably does ;-)

Poor Priti can't understand when you vilify and demonise a demographic and they don't vote vote for you then its wrong - "potentially" and "possibly" are doing all the heavy lifting in the way Farage's " I am just putting it out there" did - awful people but thats UK politics now
