Next year I will be doing some travelling and hopefully taking in a Boca v River Plate match which is meant to be one of the most iconic games around.

Apart from the obvious spectacle of City games anyone been lucky enough to watch a game from around the World that has managed to leave a lasting impression?

Which game would you go to if money was no object purely for the stadium and intensity of the atmosphere and derby?

I'm going to the Italian Cup Final in Rome, in May, which will be hopefully between Roma & Lazio (Lazio are already through, Roma are 2-1 up on aggregate against Inter)

Should be a tasty affair

No other city beside Manchester (yes, i know) has both teams so near the top of their league, although I understand that Atletico Madrid are doing very well at present. I tend not to bother with the (usually) two-team league that is la Liga.

Rangers are in the fourth tier in Scotland. Both 1860 and St Pauli are in the 2. Bundesliga, as are Sparta in Holland and Birmingham City here.

Both sets of dippers are in the second quarter of the Premier League table. And Torino is no threat to Juventus.

Admittedly, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal are 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively, but their derbies don't have the prestige that the Milan one does, IMHO.

I admit I know very little about South American football, so I would have to agree that the Milan derby is probably the second biggest in the world right now.

I'm an LFC fan, but I come in peace.

The Merseyside derby is obviously quite huge to us, but I reckon the Manchester Derby has become quite big, more worldwide recently.

Still think the Milan Derbies are the best.

Lazio - Roma is one of the most intense, I can ensure that here in rome you can feel the atmosphere 24/7 for 365 days a year.

I think that Galatasaray - Fenerbache is a great derby; then I can remember Boca Juniors - River Plate, and the evergreen Celtic - Rangers.

I got to see El Classico twice, both games in Madrid and both times won by Barca. The first time Maradona played and the second Lineker played. Thats how long ago it was. I dont think they even called it El Classico back then. Also back then other teams besides Real and Barca actually won the title!!!

At that time the Basque teams were at the top.
