It's amazing how cheap PC's are nowadays my first PC cost nearly a grand and it had 4 mb Ram and 250 mb hard disk

It really is amazing what you get for your money nowadays.
My first PC was a Viglen 286 with a whopping 1mb of ram!
However am led to believe that they put a man on the moon
with the computing power of a 286!

more like a ZX81!

They see us coming back in the day!

Mine cost 1300 quid with 256mb and 1000mhz processor that was with the worst operating system ever (Windows ME)

I got a brand new desktop for around 170 quid. I can leave it on 24:7 without any crashes or sluggishness (just a Lenovo) . The last time it powered down was during the powercut, it was on for over 4 months before that.

If people are using it for web browsing and shitty built in games like solitaire I'd recommend getting the cheapest tower going.

You can all thank AMD for making computers cheaper, and better as well.
True that. The licensing costs passed onto the customer for operating systems and associated software, added a big chunk to the price of a system in the early days as well.

i would recommend <a class="postlink" href="http://www.freshtechsolutions.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.freshtechsolutions.co.uk/</a> for components to build your own. Though i have not bought one of the pre built machines they seem to be very competitive.

I've just got one of these with no operating system installed, <a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DEIYLYG/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D ... UTF8&psc=1</a>

Good little machine and after throwing an old PSU (700w) in there and a new graphics card (gtx660) its playing all the games I have at 1080 on my tv for all in just over £500 ex O/S. Stay away from those cheap OEM windows discs off ebay! Had a nightmare with the one I got not taking the supplied key and its throwing up the counterfeit warning now, looks like I'll have to ring MS and try to blag a key...
