Devante Cole: "City don't care about English kids"

It holds no credence trust me. You really think if you are good enough the club gives a shit where you are from? He was absolutely shite and only got as far as he did because of his dad.
Stop being logical
Surely all the money we've put into the Academy and the team is to ensure English players are treated shabbily and their careers ruined in some devious Machievelian plan to ruin England's chances of winning the World Cup.

Oh scratch the last bit, that's the FA

It's not neccessarily the 'English' part that holds credibility. Rather, the fact that we don't really make it a priority to give young players a chance in the first team when they're ready.

The thread title, without wishing to sound pedantic, is about Cole's observation that we don't care about English kids
Your post said that his observation had credence, which suggests that you agree with the premise that we don't care about English kids
Now someone has pointed out the flaw in your post you have changed the goal posts to say we're shit with all kids at the academy regardless of nationality, IE we're just shit

You're on the WUM so do one

Good. We shouldn't make it a priority. It's always great to see a youngster involved but it's highly subjective as to wherever they're ready or not. I just want to see us succesful in the here and now - we've got plenty of time to reap the benefits of our acedamy.

Name a team in England that has any genuine ambition of winning the title regularly plays a player that has come through their academy ?, Tired of this nonsense , the City of ten years ago , would have brought players through ,but there is too much at stake now , we are at a different level . And i dont want to here any bollocks about the academy being a waste of time and money , we will develop a lot of young players who will end up with mid table premiership and championship teams , and the fees we receive for these players will easily pay for the costs of our academy , and with any luck we just might develop one youngster a season , to play in one of the best squads in europe. Thats the reality , the club will not throw youngsters in , when we have to challenge for 4 trophies every season

Totally agree with your sentiments. Don't understand the obsession some have for having a team full of academy graduates. I think it must be some kind of nod to the class of '92 bollocks and a desire to get even with the rags. I'd much rather we bought the best players each summer and started to dominate Europe instead.

I dont think i have seen one of your posts and not thought it was a WUM. Honestly, and ive been lurking for a while.

Didn't someone (Khaldoon?) say a few years ago that, within 10 years, they wanted X players in the first team to have come from the Academy. I only remember because I thought at the time: Now that IS a long-term plan :)
