Devante Cole...

I have to say it concerns me the way City seem to be developing youngsters. Im not particulalrly impressed with any of them that i have seen and there seems to be a trickle of bad press from them. Compare and contrast that to the United set up. Ferguson blooded 4 youngsters against Newcastle, and all performed well against a strong Newcastle side.
I see little from City's youth development for optimism, maybe others will correct me. It better improve when we pump millions into the new academy etc.

Agree totally, Villa had a number of young players playing the other night and they looked streets ahead of our younger players, Liverpools only victories this season have been with teams mainly made up with young inexperienced players.

don't forget thevye had ravel morrison and their fair share of drink drivers and criminals etc... i don't really think we have any problems with our youngsters in this sense (except CMW) - deviant cole tweeting slightly inappropriate things aint exactly crime of the century.

as for the united blooding youngsters part - they've had years of success to build on, we have on been revamping the academy the past 3 or 4 years.

if we had won on tuesday you could say that razak and suarez both performed well against a strong villa side. anyway most of their youngsters end up being let go after a solitary league cup appearance.

good things come to those that wait

Liverpool's young players are exceptional.

It's happened like that for us in the past where we get a batch of kids all coming through at the same time. I don't think it's fair to judge Suarez and Razak on one game. They'd have each looked a lot better had they played alongside Yaya Toure, Nasri and Silva rather than each other in a struggling team. Utd played a strong midfield and defence which was able for the most part to control the game. Their defence was protected.

We've also got Guidetti coming through but the big problem is that with two senior players for every position we have a problem in giving the young players a game as the senior players need games too. Going out of the League Cup is a real blow for the development of the young players

With hindsight we should have given several more youngsters a crack against Villa..the whole situation has backfired on us.

Did they fuck. United's centre back pairing was dreadful, Ameobi won at least 6 (Probably more like 8) headers in the box, it's just he was too useless to do anything with them and that Vukick lad turned a centre back with ease in the box. I've honestly never seen two centre backs look that nervey and bad against such average strikers.

Pretty much as Geedorah said, had Cisse started that game Newcastle probably would have won comfortably. Ameobi is completely immobile and awful but won every header from every long ball sent into the match. Cisse scored 67 or so seconds after coming on and nearly scored soon after. United's young defenders except Michael Keane who was OK were nothing special - certainly not as good as Rekik has looked at his best. BTW Michael Keane is the same age as Nastasic, Vermijl is one year older than Nastasic, and Wootton is two years older than Nastasic for some context about what level a "top youth" can be on at that age. Not that we have produced Nastasic in any way, just saying that if these kids were so good wouldn't they have £12million price tags like Nasty and be ready for games against Real Madrid, Juventus, and AC Milan?

Their right back had an absolute mare as well and if Cisse was introduced earlier in the second half im sure they would have won.
