did anyone actually enjoy saturdays game

I was leathered - I actually really enjoyed our fightback and thought the atmosphere was great it while we were 3-2 up - just a massive shame when they equalised - their fans celebrated though and who can blame them.

First half was absolute crap ...... and i still can't believe the ease with which Burnley grabbed their second.

Second half was alright for about 20 minutes or so ....... and even though we drew , overall the game felt like a defeat to me ..... very disappointing ....... just like the Fulham game.

I can just about stomach draws away from home ........ when they occur at home it has to be a bad result , especially against a side who hadn't won on their travels before that game.

Briefly yes at 3 -2 but then when Tevez and Ade missed sitters it felt like the bad old days waiting for the sucker punch. It was no real surprise when it came. We need to learn to close out a game. Possession, delay, possession, pause, possession, row z, possession, backpass to keeper etc etc . Repeat till whistle.

There were just 3/4 minutes left on the clock ffs.

I was fucked off people left before the end
We have to many fans like that.

I was disapointed at the end, but I enjoyed much of the game though frustrated with defending and certain apects of our formation and tactics.

I stayed to the end and applauded both sets of players off the pitch.

Very few other fans did.

There is a rule in sport about taking the result out of the official's hands. I'll explain what I mean.

Anyone else see the rags lose on Sunday?

Notice how after 5 mins went up on the board the whistle was blown by Mr Atkinson after EXACTLY 5 minutes of added time? (The idea of adding 30 seconds for substitutions seems to have gone out the window, then, unless I dreamed the Chelseas sub... BTW notice Taggart biting the hand that fed him his Derby win?)

Notice how Lampard went up to block a cross and no foul/penalty was given when the ball hit his arm? (unlike Lescott...)

Notice Drogba not given offside for Terry's goal?

If United are 3-0 up, it doesn't matter if Chelsea get a dodgy goal. It doesn't matter how much time the ref adds on. It doesn't matter if the ref doesn't give a penalty. We all know that in football decisions can go against you. Over the course of a season, they probably balance each other out but in any given game if a number of things go against you, as they did against United, you won't win a tight game.

On Saturday, a number of things went against us that on another day wouldn't. I didn't think Sweep was offside in the first half even though his goal was not given, and there were fractions of a second in the Burnley player being offside for their second. On another day, our goal is given, theirs is chalked off. On another day, a ref doesn't give the penalty against Lescott or decides its just outside the area. On another day, we are given an extra 90 seconds at the end of injury time and score the winner.

I did enjoy the game - I thought it was a cracker, apart from the sloppy goal at the end - what disappoints me is that we let Burnley get close enough for the refereeing decisions and a sloppy goal to make a difference. Against Arsenal, we gave away a sloppy goal at the end but had stuffed them over the course of the previous 85 minutes. We gave away a sloppy goal against West Ham but did enough to win. We need to take the result of the game away from the hands of the referee and the linesman more often.

Chris this has to be one of the best posts I've ever read on any forum, anywhere. I could not agree more. The Chelsea/Rags game you cite is the perfect example. Another is the derby where, in spite of debatable free kick decisions given against us for the 3rd and 4th goals, we just did not defend well enough. And against Burnley we dominated the game, and should've possibly won 4 or 5-2.

Burnley fan here in peace.

I went to the game and have to say I enjoyed it immensely (Obviously!).
I thought we played particularly well in the first period and were worthy of being 2-0 up, but SWP's goal was a kick in the stones for us, as we all knew what would follow after the break (similar to our game at Chelski - we held them until the 45th minute - they scored and then dicked us for the remainder of the game).
I thought our equaliser was well worked with Fletcher's cushioned header an absolute gem, and quite rightly we celebrated like it was a win for us.

I just think you need time to let your defenders settle in (Although I am not sure what Wayne Bridge was doing for the majority of the game). With the players that you have you should be unstoppable in the league, and I think you will turn the draws into wins. I also reckon that most of you approved the signings that Hughes made at the back (Toure, Lescott et al), so it's just a case of giving them time to form something of a partnership - players don't become poor overnight.

All in all I think you will break into the top four this year (Probably at the expense of Scousepool). As for ourselves it was nice to pick up a point that I think we probably deserved (You may not agree) and I still think our season will be a struggle in the main, so every point is vital.

Good luck for the rest of the season

fair play to burnley, i was impressed with fletcher, old fashioned striker who played with a lot of intelligence.

Apparently Saturday's result was a massive coupon-buster.

A mate of mine (Burnley fan as well!) has 7 of the other eight results on an accumulator and City let him down - he didn't know whether to laugh or cry!
