You know it was one thing to see some of ye mouthing off about Hunt, disrespecting him the way ye were when he was just being honest, to tell you the truth I'd be pretty damn annoyed if I was the player who'd worked hard with the squad and if they got to the world cup, lost out because Ireland changed his mind and felt like coming back, after everyone else did the hard work. Would ye not be pissed off if you were the player who had worked hard and wanted to play for your country, but didn't get to go to the world cup because Ireland simply changed his mind after turning his back on the team?
I mean of what Hunt said, what is wrong?

And ya it was one thing when ye were trashing him with absolutely no proof, that I can understand, especially when you see some of ye're other posts, but then reading more crap about how he hurt Cech on purpose which is beyond insulting and way outta line. Who exactly do ye think ye are?

And one simple question to ye all, if you were an Irish player with the squad, say that they get to the world cup, and you don't get to go because Ireland changed his mind, and he went instead, would you not be really pissed off?

There is no question that Ireland would be by far an excellent addition to the team, no question, he'd start. But this is a case of principle.

I would want a top class player like Stephen Ireland in my side whether or not he played 10 qualifying game or none because it would help the team and the country. If Stephen Hunt was passionaite about his country and wanted to play in the world cup and make the country passionaite as a whole for 2 or so weeks then he too would want Stephen Ireland in his side. But he is Stephen Hunt, he is a fucking prick and all he cares about is himself, added to the fact that he is shitting it if Stephen Ireland came back because he would be out of the side quicker than he can get his kneecap into Petr Cech's head.

I just hope Italy and Bulgaria pick up so then your begging for Stephen to come back, Stephen Hunt won't mind though because he can still be picking up his caps.

It's a matter of principle. You'll always want the best player in the side no matter who he is, but that's not what I asked. If you were the player who lost out a place in the squad for the world cup because another changed his mind and walked into the team after you did all the work would you not be bloody annoyed? He never said he didn't want Ireland to come back, he just said it how it was. You don't know that he's a "fucking prick" that "only cares about himself" so why bother writting it. Just because he said what everyone else is thinking.

So it's a simple question really, if you were the player who lost out on a place in the squad for the world cup because another one who turned his back on the team a long time ago without even a word of an apology, decided to change his mind and stroll back into the squad after everyone else worked hard to get it where it is, would you not be annoyed?

I'd be pissed off and bitter but i would know that that is football, it happens and i do know he is a "fucking prick" anbecause i have seen him on the pitch and in interviews, he comes across as that kid of guy.

So your insults and bashing of a player is all based on how he comes across in an interview. Because he never gives anything but 120% as a player on the pitch. No one works harder or runs more or gives anything more then him.

No see it's one thing to loose out to a player who's been on the squad with you and plays better and gets your place, that's football. But it's another thing when a player walks away and then changes his mind after all the hard work is done and decides to stroll back into the squad, that's not football, that's a player being selfish. You wouldn't just be bitter, you'd be disgusted, and it would really upset the mood in the squad. There's no I in team. But if Ireland gets to walk in after turning his back on the team, without a word of an aplogy. It'll upset a lot of people. And a lot of fans.

It's not just going to upset one player, it'll upset the entire squad. Like obviously you'll want the best player on the team, but it's really a matter of princepal. No player should be able to walk into a squad after turning his back on the team, when all the work is done. No one, no matter who you are.
Obviously I want to see him back in the squad, most do, but it's going to upset a lot of people.

Agree with everything said there. If Ireland does come back into the team, will he walk straight into the starting 11? Whelan and Andrews have formed a good partnership in the centre of midfield, what do you do, drop one of them to bring in Ireland? If I was one of them I would be extremely disgusted, they helped the team get to the good position they are in, and it would really upset the spirit in the camp to be dropped for a guy who has only just decided to be a part of it.

If Ireland wants to come back, I feel he has alot of bridges to build, with the fans and the rest of the team. What sort of reception will he get if he comes back and plays? Trapattoni is a good, experienced coach, and it will be interesting to see who he handles the Stephen Ireland situation if he does come back.

Can't see him coming back anyway so it's probably all irrelevant. I personally feel that Hunt is talking above his station and should leave statements about other 'ex' team mates to his manager and captain. Really it has nothing to do with him. If it was happening at club level, would the manager tolerate it? I imagine Brady, Trap and co. are pissed off with his statements, especially if they're quietly trying to build bridges. Who knows if they are or not...

Whelan and Andrews are nowhere near the quaility of the midfielders of the likes of Ireland , Andy and Stephen Reid and even the likes of as it pains me to say it Gibson and even Garvan off Ipswich I would rather see 2 of them given a game ahead of these 2 jokers. We wont quailify with those 2 in our midfield they wont be near the squad in 2 years time.

As for Hunt headless chicken at times and talks a load of shit off the field. I cant see him breaking into the starting 11 at any stage. Duff is ahead of him now and more than likely when Duff calls it a day McGeady will be playing down the left hand side. Then if you add Lawrence off Stoke who could and will play on the right side Hunt is fucked.

HARD WORK DONE????

It's not even started yet.

Although Hunt does have a point, but his point is the reason why the phrased was coined "Why cut off your nose to spite your face".

Also Dunnie boy will no doubt helped to change SI mind, so Hunt should not be causing ruptions between himself and the Rep Irelands Capt Mr Dunne. Hunt would do well to keep it low key.

And to answer Your point Macca I'm pissed that Neville is worming his way back into the England frame, personally I think Mr Cappello should of took me....Sadly I'm not good enough so that's hard cheese for me and hard cheese for one of the peritheral players of R Ireland if Stevie decides to re enter the Irish squad.

I not Irish, but I will be backing them tonight due to our very own Mr D and besides I have a lot of time for the Irish.

They've worked hard to get where they are, obviously there's a lot of work to be done still.

Hunt shouldn't have opened his mouth, but like there's no need for some to say what they've said about him, totally out of order.
Robbie Keane is Ireland's captain, Dunne was, couldn't tell ya now if it's Dunne or Given who's vice captain.

Backing Ireland tonight? They're not playing tonight.
