Did Barry join City for the money?

i think the extra money helped to be honest but also think that he was won over by the project as we say!! think he was told the sort of players we were looking to get and knew that no other team could get players like we were gonna chase,certainly not villa anyway.he`s started his career with us superbly and in all honesty really should be captain in my opinion,nothing against toure but barry does his job amazingly well and never gets involved with referees etc...fantastic professional at the peak of his career,gonna be the bargain of the summer @ £12million.
 
There as probably less than 5 players in the top 5/6 clubs that are not where they are for the money. Its the main factor at the top of virtually every industry in the world. But then there is also the career prospects, job satisfaction, demographics, geography etc, which also play a big part in a move.

money came into it , no doubt about that , but is it possible city have more ambition than aston villa????????????????????? p.s. along with a shit load of cash as well!
 
just thought id post this. i live in hastings, as did gareth barry. i also went to his school - william parker. id have no reason to lie because i dont care what reason he came to us for.

he was back down in hastings in july for the local beer festival, i believe he comes down every year. he was obviously asked about how much he is on etc. he is on 110k per week. and when he was asked why he came to us he came to us his answer was 'wouldnt you if you were offered 110k per week'.

there you have it. he has settled down brilliantly though. top player.

Don't 99% of modern professional players join a club for the money? The clue is the "professional" bit. Why would Barry be any different? Like someone else has said, who really gives a shit if he keeps performing like he has so far?
 
No he came because he likes the colour of our kit. And the pies are better. And Doris the tea lady is nice too and makes a luvverly brew.
